My new heroes—the Parkland students

I'm running like crazy, on my way to Parkland, Florida, but here are some links to some of the media I did the past few awful days: Watch Deadline Whitehouse clip. Watch New Day. Clips of 2 nights with Anderson to come. Transcripts here: Wednesday show: http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1802/14/acd.01.html Thursday: http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1802/15/acd.02.html CLIPS OF SOME PRIOR APPEARANCES AFTER PREVIOUS SHOOTINGS. (How sad is that?) Update Mar 4: I just added a blog post about my guest spot on CNN's Reliable Sources podcast. You can listen here. I also updated my Interviews page with links to these recent Parkland appearances.

Stunning passage from Denis Johnson's 'Largesse of the Sea Maiden'

Halfway through Denis Johnson's Largesse of the Sea Maiden, I was liking but not really loving it. There were scattered wondrous moments, but a lot of chaff. And then I began the story "Triumph Over The Grave." I'm not even finished with it, but it's already spellbinding. And this passage. This is why I love him. (Of course much of the impact is built upon the confusion already underway in the scene, and the elements pulled back in, so this is probably best enjoyed relishing again after consuming the story. But either way, enjoy.) It might help to know that he's gone out to a remote ranch in Texas to check on an old friend seems to be losing his mind — and has been chatting with his dead bro

Amazon has "Columbine" for $7.50 (57% off)

My publisher seems to be experimenting with flash sales on Columbine. It's currently $7.50 in paperback at Amazon, which is 57% off, way below the normal price as well as the cover price. I have no idea how long. The kindle version went on sale for $3 (or $4?) a few weeks ago, but quickly returned to $12. They seem to be experimenting.)

Sue Klebold's book--my reaction

I get asked about Sue's book periodically, so I'm going to answer here and direct people here when they inquire: I read and fact-checked about 6 pages in galleys, then started the book when it came out, but there was much going on and I had a PTSD reaction so I stopped. It was great as far as I got. I hope to return to it at some point, but not pushing my luck.
