After Trump's transgender tweet-firing, retired Navy SEAL officer Kristin Beck said: "Let's meet face to face and you tell me I'm not worthy.” Yesssss!
Krisin is my new hero. Along with three active transgender service members I interviewed the past five days. I'm late in posting this, because I've been crazy at work on a piece about them for Vanity Fair. (While also traveling to Vermont for a wonderful stint as Visiting Writer at Marlboro College's writing intensive.)
The Vanity Fair piece should be up today. I'll post again. #ProtectTransTroops
Update: The transgender troops piece is done, but there was a delay on the photo side. It should go up tomorrow morning.
2nd update: My transgender troops piece is up at Vanity Fair. I was taken aback by the response it got. Thanks to all of you who responded.
Kristin Beck's story continues to challenge traditional narratives, and it’s powerful to see such visibility from a former Navy SEAL. The response to your Vanity Fair piece shows how important these conversations are.
