Hi - I'm Kathy again.  I am still having such a hard time getting online to POST.  I'm not too tech savvy, so I guess that's why. But Chuck directed me to this site for new members.  Chuck:  Thank you for your welcome note!

What I really want to do now is to post a "P.S." to my post of yesterday re the the 68th edition forum that ended today.  OK?
How could I not mention Gustavo Santaolalla's marvelous score and the songs he wrote w/Bernie Taupin?? The score accentuates the film perfectly.  The BBM "Wings" theme makes me tear up every time I hear it.  And the songs and artists are marvelous, too.  I can't say enough about it; it's beautiful.  (I read that the so-called "academy" did not nominate a song from BBM because "it wasn't prominently in the film".  WHAT THE  H--L DOES THAT MEAN ANYWAY??   BAFTA (and others, of course) awarded best song -
(A Love that Will Never Grow Old) - Why did that rotten "academy" not put this one or any of the others in for nomination?  I don't mean to repeat myself, but I am furious at the way BBM was treated that night in CA.  Another way for them to continue their unending stupidity.

About me - Well, I'm female, single, middle age, straight; my co-favorite #1 films for all time are GWTW and Lawrence of Arabia.  Fanatic for both. Of course I have others that I like a lot.  But, I LOVE BBM.
I have read "BBM - Story to Screenplay" and loved it.   Am presently reading "On Brokeback Mountain", and am about halfway through.  I don't want to finish it because it's so very good! I also read "Heath Ledger - Hollywood's Dark Star".  I liked it, but do think it was too soon to come to print.  So much of our darling Heath is yet to be written.  So sad, so very sad.

Well, guess I'll close for now.  Talk to you soon (i.e. if I can post correctly)!!
Oh - just to tell you - I loved your ad in Variety in 2006 and the one for Heath in 2008.  Both hit the nail on the head!!

Hi, Kathy! My name is Tony, and I saw your post the other day.  Not to worry about getting used to things; plenty of time there.  I hope you look around all the threads; there's stuff on movies, cooking, pets, and grumping, even.
Also, many members are on similar forums:  Bettermost Brokeback, and EnnisJack.com, so there's really a big BBM world to explore.
When you have problems, by the way, you can PM (private message) moderators or new friends; just look for the message thing at the top and click on, there.
  We're glad to see you!

Hi Kathy! I'm Fritz.

Just for accuracy's sake, you have to make at least five posts be able to send a PM, though you can receive them at any time. So you would have to post three more times before being able to send a private message to anyone.

Well, as advised by CellarDweller115. I'm gonna introduce myself! Hold on!

I am 24 years old (please don't hold it against me), white (if that makes any difference), male from a small town in Canada. Recent university graduate, and unsure of just about everything! I guess you can say that I decided to post on this forum because BBM spoke to me. I still don't know what it said, but it sure left it's mark. I am a gay man living a semi-closeted life in rural county, interning in the "forestry field".

I just red Annie's short story today at work. I couldn't help but start to tear-up, im not usually an emotional guy but this movie got me bad. I'm almost afraid to watch it again at the risk of having an emotional break-down.

That's all for now,
Thanks to everyone for the warm welcomes!
I'll be posting again.

Cheers,
Brokenheart

BEYOND BROKEBACK
The Impact of a Film

Ranging from the amusing to the emotionally devastating, the pieces collected in Beyond Brokeback crystallize the deep, frequently life-changing reactions of its often-unsuspecting viewers.
