Anyway.... this is not just to tell you that I saw it for the ninth time...but that I SWEAR I saw one scene I hadn´t seen before....it was maybe two-three seconds long but I hadn´t seen it before...  its when Ennis leaves after switching shifts with Jack, he tells him he won´t sleep much....after Ennis leaves the scene shows Jack for a couple of seconds looking at Ennis riding away... he was smiling.

I've seen the movie enough times to have had the opportunity to spend one viewing watching Jack's face. I have got to tell you, Jake is one hell of an actor.  Those eyes speak volumes without the need for words.

#13 yesterday.  Now that summer is over, it's getting cold.  After having my lunch nearly blow onto the beach, I decided to go the Mountain.

The IMAX down the harbor from me is only playing National Geographic-type stuff, and I don't feel like a trip to Brisbane, so  I settled for Bondi Junction yesterday.  (The early evening show went last went, and the late evening is, um, late.)  Two young female couples, totally silent.  And me.

I could watch it in Ancient Sumerian now; I know exactly who will say what and when, though there are still scenes that appear and disappear each time.   Blink, and you miss the neckerchief coming off Jack's neck to wipe away the blood.  Blink, and you miss the twitch when he refused to turn around to see Ennis washing.  Blink, and you miss Jacks' chuckle when Ennis wishes he were lucky and the harmonica had broken.  Blink, and you miss the first "it's alright."

Someone here recently blamed Ennis for the mess our boys are in, and for some reason that thought imbued every scene after they left the Mountain.  Damn you Ennis, will you *please* just put your fear aside just for one minute?  The white truck scene after the divorce always hurts; this time it was an 18-wheeler right over my heart.  My throat is always sore and tight from trying not to cry, but this time I was supressing the need to shout at him too.  I was angry as hell.

By the time I'd struggled home across the length of Martin Place, past the homegoing commuters and  Friday afternoon drinkers, the usual boisterousness a bit forced, I think, from having to avoid the few, but enormous, rain drops, I was in a steaming rage.  Why could Ennis not see past "[his] life in Riverton" and do something?

I see his helplessness against his own fear and I can't get it out of my mind.  I just want to reach out to him and make it better, though I can't for you can never allay a fear that deep.  (And the obvious fact that he's a fiction--though I'm beginning so doubt it, so real is he.)

Maybe 13 was the unlucky one.  I am filled with anger, sorrow, and something akin to love for this poor fool.

Last night I went for my 19th trip up the Mountain.  This time with Auntie killersmom.  Flew down for the weekend,

What is it about sharing the experience with someone who truly "gets" it?  We laughed at the same time, cried pretty much the same time, even blew our noses at the same time duting the end credits.  We were laughing through our tears.

MellorSJ, you are so right about knowing this piece of art so intimately.  My mouth forms their sentences, my body sways with Ennis and Jack's movements.  The tears flow without conscious intent, programmed by my soul's response.  Yet, I go back.  It will be playing in theaters in my area for a few days after I get back home.  Guess I'll have to make another trek to the Mountain.

Well, I just went for number 8 on Thursday night and it was the best of all.  The tears started at SNIT and that was it.  BBM is truly a work of art.  Everyone associated with it deserves the highest praise.

It still astounds and amazes me that this movie can have such a personal, emotional impact.  I can only imagine what this board will be like when the DVD comes out.

(!) This is me shaking my "for shame" finger at AMPAS.  Anyone care to join me?

I've seen it 30 times now.  26 times in the theatre and 4 times on dvd.

I did not see it today.

Instead, we went to a comedy show in Saginaw. It was 2 of the guys from 'Whose Line Is It Anyway".
One of the skits was them pulling movie quotes (from the audience) out of a hat and improvising in the form of a Shakesperean play.
I didn't recognize most of the lines. I guess I should see more movies. And I think a lot of the people just made stuff up.
The last line they pulled out was "Save a horse, ride a cowboy". They ended the skit with that line followed by "I'm off to see Lord Brokeback".
It was funny, You had to be there.
So even when I go out of my way to do something else, Brokeback will always be there somewhere.

johnk...I too have imagined this site when the new brokebackers come on board...we will have to remember how it was for all of us...to go back to the 1st viewing...I can even remember how I felt walking back to my car...how I drove home I'll never know...it had entered my pores...became me...wondrous wondrous wondrous time...unforgettable..

and we will need to be ready ...for all the stories that will pour forth....the oceans of tears...we will need to be ready...

4-10 May ...I'll have the opportunity to see it again and again on the big screen....I might just camp outside the cinema Wink

I'm going this evening to see it for the 10th and probably last time on the big screen......still cant believe it has played so long in my home town (in West Virginia...pop about 50,000...conservative and republican)....it's moved over to our $3.00 theater and is only showing twice per day and may be gone by the end of next week.   I'm pretty sure I've never seen ANY movie this many times...except possibly on TV...something like Gone with the Wind (by accident).....I have 5 copies of the DVD on order from our Amazon link (big family Wink)and will just have to wait till they get here...in the meantime, I've got a collection of tribute videos so well make by devoted fans.....they'll have to do for a time.

Number 10 last Wednesday (on the big screen).  Numbers 8 and 9 were Monday and Tuesday nights, at the hotel in Hartford, CT (it was on pay per view). I will go this Tuesday evening for one last show on the big screen; it's still playing out here in the Philly burbs.  Next week I am back in the hotel, so will probably see it 3 or 4 times, then of course when I get home, my DVD will be at my door!

Tee hee.  I just bought a new HDTV in a slightly bigger size than I had before.  I let my husband think it was his idea, but I really saved the money up so I could see Jake's eyes better!!

I'm actually thinking of buying a smaller TV. I have a nice 60" RCA but it's not HD. I'm going to sell it and get a 51" widescreen HDTV.

I already have a smaller HDTV in my bedroom with 720p DVD.

I saw BBM on both TV's and the HD looks so much better, almost 3 dimensional.

My #6, don’t know how to describe, maybe 3 men and 3 ladies and a couple. that's not too bad. As usual, the pains come back when the tragedy begins. i wish i could quit this movie.

Thank the camp fire, camp tent and the imposing mountain to have granted a silent but great love between Ennis and Jack. Through every stormy sea and billowy tide, their love remains imposing like Brokeback Mountain.

# 31 today.

A new friend of mine wanted to see the movie, but I couldn't get him to go to the theatre. It's no longer showing here, so I took the movie to his house today. He was afraid to see it in public because he gets too emotional.
He loved the movie (of course) and said it was a lot better than he expected, and quite a bit different than what he thought it would be.
He is the same age as Jack & Ennis would be now, and he was married at one time. Other than that I don't know much about him, we just met today after talking online for a few weeks. I expect to see him here soon.

I graduated to higher gas bills today (viewing #11).

But I don't have a car, so hahahahaha! I walk to the theater. I'll probably continue to do so as long as it's playing.

Oh, who am I kidding, no "probably" about it.
