Its one week since my last post on this thread (had seen it 5 times then), and last night I saw it for my 6th and probably final viewing on the big screen. Its down to one show a night at my local west suburban Boston theater, and I suspect it will be gone by the end of the week.  Considering that it opened here right before Christmas if I remember right, its been a damn respectable run.  So last night was doubly sad for me- sad because I still cant keep from crying every time I see it, and more sad knowing that I'll not likely see our boys up there  on the big screen again.  Going to see a movie 6 times is about 4 more times than I've ever been to see the same movie before - never would have thought that a film could have such a hold on me when I saw Brokeback for the first time just after New Years.  Some of my gay friends have seen it twice, but  none of them were quite as affected by it as I was, and I still find it hard trying to explain to them why I still cant get it out of my head.  Its nice to have all you "kindred spirits" out there in the forum who I can identify with and who understand why we keep going back for more.  I suppose its a little naive to think that 6 months from now I'm still going to be thinking about Jack and Ennis every day, and thats probably a good thing- gotta move on and all, but all I can say is that its been one helluva ride up to now (aint no reins on this one), and as sad as Brokeback has made me feel at times, and as bittersweet as the whole experience has been, I cant begin to express how thankful I've been for this amazing film.  I'm not sure I'll ever see its equal again in the movies but one can always hope- maybe an honest gay love story with a happy ending next time.

Closed captioning was sort of amusing though

Gee, I saw Brokeback Mountain seven times between 12/29 and 2/1, including seeing it two days in a row at one point.  I had to give it a break - I was beginning to get overwhelmed by my feelings (not in a bad way, just needed to process things a bit - the shock of emotional familiarity really hit close to home).  It is still playing in a couple of theaters around here so I may take in one more viewing...

I ordered the DVD yesterday from TLA and paid extra for expedited shipping which is pretty funny since I walk past TLA's store here in downtown Philly every weekday.  I just wanted to be sure I got my copy as fast as possible!  I also bought the story to screenplay book from Barnes and Noble yesterday - stayed up late reading the script - cried most of the way through it.

I think I may have to make #14 tonight. I have to go see my mom this evening  and wouldn't you know it that the Regal in Oaks, PA  is just down the road from my parents townhouse.

15 times as of this past Sunday.

1st time in Chelsea (NYC) with my partner and a friend.
2nd-15th times in various theaters around Orlando, FL, always with my partner and twice with other friends as well.

I believe it will depart the Orlando area as of this Thursday.

We referred to it as either "going to church", or "going to visit the boys".

We already have a (presumably) pirated, no-label DVD from an eBay auction in the U.K., but haven't watched it yet because we wanted to continue the big screen viewings for as long as it played here.

We will, of course, be purchasing any and every version of the DVD that comes out.

And we'll definitely miss seeing our boys on the big screen.

My 8th time was last Saturday March 18th.  It will be my last unless The New Beverly plays it sometime in the future.

9 times so far (3 times in the span of 4 days at one point).  Hoping to make it #10 before the week is over.  Have no desire yet to see anything else - my entire office left early today to go see "16 Blocks" since it was filmed around our building, but I begged off.  I'd rather spend my theatre time at BBM while I can!

lmao

I have a woman at work, and anytime she passes my desk and sees my "dozy embrace" wall paper, she says "Chuck, how are the boys?"

The theaters release their next week schedules today and BBM is still in the theater where I've recently seen it for yet another week. I really thought tomorrow would be the end so I did a dance of joy knowing I still have a few more chances to see Ennis and Jack a few more times on the big screen just as the DVD comes out. I won't have withdrawl symptoms!!!!!

Thank you to whoever decided to keep it at the Regal (with 4 shows a day still) for another week!

So we're not the only ones who think of them that way, eh? I've told others that Jack and Ennis have become friends of ours, like two people we look forward to "visiting" whenever we can.
