Buzz, I don't know where you are, but if you're able come see it again on the big screen with us in Bay City!  There will be several of us there and we'd love to see you.

I rented the DVD last week when my husband wasn't home and watched it 3 times in two days, then I had to return it. Before I returned it I ordered a DVD on line and it just came in today. My husband is back out on the road (he is a truck driver) and so I will watch it by myself again tonight. *Sigh*

I was in Philadelphia recently on a 24hr layover and with the time change I found myself awake very early so I put the tv on and almost immediately came across HBO where Ennis was being beaten up by the truck after the Thanksgiving debacle. What a way to start the day but I tell you, I could not take my eyes from the screen 'til it was over and I had to go wash my face avoiding the bathroom mirror at all costs!!

I find myself going back to Brokeback virtually every day.  Some aspect always comes to mind in an average day  Wink

Hi,
I'm embarrassed to say that I live in a bubble and hadn't seen Brokeback until last Friday night when I got it from Netflix (one reason I joined the service).  Since then I've watched it a total of 7 times.  Am I crazy?  Never mind, don't answer that.  I can't wait to see it again.  I think it'll be tonight.  When I got it on Friday I asked my husband if he wanted to watch it with me.  He said, "I have no interest in seeing that movie".  I asked why not.  He said, "I just don't.  You'll love it, thought.  There's horses and stuff."  I was surprised by my husband's lack of desire to watch the movie.  But on my fourth viewing I decided to ask him again and he watched it with me.  He didn't give much of a response except,"It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be."  I was just glad he stayed for the whole movie.  I can't seem to understand though because it is by far and away THE best movie I have ever seen.  To hear someone say they're unaffected just blows my mind.
Now mind you, I took my husband to Provincetown, MA when we were dating because I had to make sure that he wasn't homophobic. A man hit on him and asked him out while we were there.  Watching his reaction which was a smile and, "Sorry, I'm spoken for."  and he reached out to hold my hand.  After the man left, I joked with him and said that he almost got picked up.  He said, "What makes you think I would be attracted to a guy like that?"  All of that spoke volumes to me...that he wasn't upset, horrified, embarrassed, angy, anything except matter-of-factly telling me that this guy wasn't his type.  Hmmmmm.   Whut?

I wish I had seen it on the big screen if I had known about it.  My only explanation is that my youngest just turned 3 on January 6th, so maybe I was preoccupied when the film came out.  Or did it come out a year after that.  At any rate, I'm way behind the times.

umm... lori,

you have at least one more chance, and on the granddaddy of big screens.  the academy award people (yes, those jerks) are running a series of movies that DIDN'T win best picture this august in hollywood.  it loks like many of us are going to turn up and get together to see it one more time.  often people involved in the filming of a given movie are present to lecture, and we will be bringing our own display of memorabilia.

there is a thread dedicated to this in the forum meetings and gathering thread, a link to which will most likely soon appear <hint hint>,

Wow, that's so cool.  What an opportunity!  But so far for me to travel.  Is it just incredible on the big screen?!  Have you seen it on your tv to compare?  Thanks so much.
