AM I the only one who finds it almost too painful to watch anymore?

I saw it with the Slashanistas at the Slash Bash, and I literally sobbed through the whole thing.  It is too painful for me to revisit what I see reflected back at me - the struggle Carol and I went through to finally be with each other.  We were headed for the same end as Jack and Ennis.

Fortunately we didn't end up like them, but I still have a really hard time watching.
We're going to try to be there in Feb. 07 to be with our friends and so  on, but the movie part is REALLY difficult for me.

I retained all 14 theatre receipts and have them framed (sick). I have it displayed next to a Heath Ledger autographed movie poster. a true shrine. Smiley

Just finished watching BBM.. I don't know how many times I've watched it. I've lost my count.
When the time gets near midnight, i just have this urge to watch BBM, especially when i don't feel quite well. it's like a remedy.
This time, my purpose was to focus on the wind. To focus on the sight and sound of the wind which Ang tried to capture in every ways. However, I ended up being immersed in the story and burst into tears. No matter how many times I've watched it, it gives me pain.
Unfortunately, my two best friends haven't seen the movie yet. I guess they are afraid to watch it. Therefore, I'm planning a BBM watch night and hopefully I'll be able to guide them through so three of us can talk about it.

I am also planning to frame my tickets and my autographed poster.

I saw the movie 28 times on the big screen, and I have most of the tickets.

I was cleaning out my bedroom closet last week and found 2 tickets from the first 2 screenings!

I didn't start saving the tickets until the second week when it became apparent that I was going to see it as many times as possible before it left the theatres.

[Let's see, only 3 times in the theater in the States, once in Germany, at least 4 times on DVD at home plus innumerable times going to favorite scenes. Twice at the BBQ, though I have to admit, watching it on the night before I left with Conny and Jimmy, I nodded off more than once! I hadn't gotten much sleep that weekend!
Ok, now I don't feel so guilty. I fell asleep here at home while I was watching it a couple of months ago.

Ummm...so that means that closet hasn't been cleaned out in a year, right?

Not quite a year Michael. Remember, I live in Bay City, and we didn't get the film here until February. I was quite surprised when I found out it was going to play here. The first ticket is dated Feb 12.

And you have seen my house so you have a good idea about my housekeeping skills. Grin

The second to last time I saw BBM was back in the middle of June. I didn't feel that my TV set did justice to the masterpiece and decided to shelf the DVD for awhile. This does not mean the film lost its magic on me. On the contrary, I found myself re-reading the short story over and over. Last week I made a trip to a town where I last saw BBM in theater, drove by the theater by chance really and the memory just came back to me. It was a Friday night and shortly before the last show of the evening was to begin. I decided to buy the ticket and went in, not so  much to see the film that was being played there, but to relive that sad feeling of seeing your love (or in this case film) one depart. It was an eerie feeling. I honestly don't remember a thing about the film that was being shown that night. After I got back home, I popped the DVD in and watched it again for the first time in 5 months. It's like seeing an old friend, kinda like the scene where Jack looks up and saw Ennis when Ennis pulled in with his truck and the horse trailor.

I really need to finagle my finance to get an extra large wide screen plasma screeen for Christmas. Is Santa listening???

P.S. Sorry if this post is in the wrong forum. Let me know if there is another forum where I should be posting this.

Dave has an important announcement about the forum, which he asks all members to read:

http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=18085.msg602098#msg602098

We have set up a thread to discuss the situation. That discussion thread is linked from the post directly below the message from Dave. Follow the above link and you'll get to both.

Thanks

I retained all 14 theatre receipts and have them framed (sick).

I did the same thing with my 17 ticket stubs. I also added a 5 x 6 picture of the dozy embrace in one corner.

If it's a sickness, I don't want to get better.

The administration has been working extremely hard to solve the slow down issue that has been plaguing the forum for some months now. It has been determined that to solve this we will have to change the host company of the forum. The new host server has now been contracted with by Dave as of today.

We are proceeding rapidly now and hope to have the conversion complete within a few weeks at the latest and hopefully much sooner. We will keep you (members) apprised. Please look for announcements in the Newsbox. Some changes will likely come up suddenly--that is the nature of computer conversions, so it is impossible to know before we test whether something will go flawlessly and take two hours, or uncover thorny issues that will take days. The testing process is being started. This will not affect the forum at this point.

So taking this into consideration, we don't want to give you timeframes that are unrealistic. As soon as we finish a stage, we'll proceed immediately to the next, and the exact changeover will likely come on very short notice to you (members). We will post this changeover time in the Newsbox as well as in the individual threads, and will give you as much lead time as we can manage. This will enable us to end the slowdown ASAP.

Thank you for your patience.
