Saw it in the theaters 3 or 5 times, can't remember now.  Although the movie had an enormous impact on me--the final confrontation scene caused tears to run down my cheek involuntarily each time--I began to feel that instead of liberating me it was starting to consume me.  Haven't bought the DVD and probably won't.

Hi, i'm Opinionista, posting from Madrid, Spain. I can't believe I opened an account in this forum in February and today is the first time I ever post here. I guess I got caught up first over IMDb, and afterwards in Bettermost.

Now back on topic, I don't know how many times I've seen this movie. I lost count! But I can assure you I've seen it many many times. I remember sneaking up to the theater to see it again and again. I was always coming up with some excuse. I'd tell myself I didn't pay attention to this scene, I didn't quite understand what happened in this other scene; I can't remember what did Ennis tell Jack after this or before that, and so on. Sometimes, I'd even tell myself I was going to see another movie but always ended up buying a ticket for Brokeback Mountain. Once I managed to buy a ticket to see Spielberg's Munich, but I couldn't pay attention at all. Ennis and Jack kept coming into my head. I kept thinking of the movie, of the story. But now, I feel I have moved on somewhat. I keep coming to the forums, especially to Bettermost, where I'm a regular, but I no longer feel the urge to see the movie anylonger. I didn't even buy the CD. But I'm glad I went through this experience. I could say it's one of the best things that ever happened to me.

Hi Jackie
That must have been wonderful. To be surrounded by fellow believers and no one to spoil the viewing. I do so hope that I can get to the Dec showing here in London.
Wish you had been there this w/e.

The Slash Bash viewing was my 44th time.
And you're right, it is very rewarding to share the film with family members.
Love you too Jackie!

Hey there y'all!  'Fess' up time for me -- yesterday was trip #49, plus a little time left over to run back to earlier mountain scenes.  Friends just don't understand why I have to keep going up that mountain, I just do.  And I still find something new each time that I hadn't seen before.  Just this evening I spent some quality time with family I hadn't seen since last Christmas, and although a good many of them still have not seen the film, they had the opportunity to understand at least a small portion of my passion.  Before the evening ended, they got to hear "He Was a Friend of Mine," "I Don't Want to Say Goodbye," "No One's Gonna Love You Like Me," "The Maker Makes" and of course "A Love that will never grow old."  They heard not the selections from the sound track recording, but live renditions of each of these wonderful songs by yours truly.  There are indeed ways to bring loved ones up that mountain even if they haven't done the trip themselves.

Just once. (I know, I'm weird.) I've been waiting for (as Captain Jack Sparrow would say) "the opportune moment" to watch it again. I saw it with family the first time, so preferably the second time I would be alone, with as few interruptions as possible. In a spiritual sense (even though it sounds funny), I kind of want to be able to privately commune with the movie. Connect, at any rate, in a different way than before. I'm thinking I might rent it tomorrow and watch it either tomorrow night or Saturday afternoon/evening. My roommate will be gone, everyone else will be busy, and I had the week from hell so I need catharsis like nobody's business. I think it might be time for a second trip to Brokeback.

Me too! Send out anti-snow thoughts between the East Coast and Michigan (at least!) for that whole weekend.

It's been 11 times for me in movie theaters.  I always cry, but sometime I cry more at certain scenes.  It was great to actually see it in WY, when I went to see Annie Proulx at the equality State Bookfest!

Amen to that Jackie!

Let's see, only 3 times in the theater in the States, once in Germany, at least 4 times on DVD at home plus innumerable times going to favorite scenes. Twice at the BBQ, though I have to admit, watching it on the night before I left with Conny and Jimmy, I nodded off more than once! I hadn't gotten much sleep that weekend!
