37th time today.

Quote
So we're not the only ones who think of them that way, eh? I've told others that Jack and Ennis have become friends of ours, like two people we look forward to "visiting" whenever we can.

True...although more like lovers than just friends. All the chat about the illbehaved audience reminds me of one of my first times seeing it by myself. There was a lesbian couple behind me and some of their friends. One of the couple laughed through most of the movie. Finally, after several 'turn and look' moves, when the climactic argument scene began and she started giggling, I sttod up, turned and said, "Do you mind? It's not a fucking comedy!" and sat back down half expecting to get a knock on the head. But she shut up for a while and then whispered to her partner during the last two scenes. I have NEVER done such a thing in a theatre before.

I just returned from #5.  Had the theatre to myself and just openly basked in it.  Every time I go I think this can't possibly sink any deeper into my bones, but it does--it just does.  I think it was awhile back in this thread that someone said they refer to it as "going to church"  God, I love that--that's IT exactly.  This time I was super sensitive to the music.  Those one-note swells--when Ennis is galloping across the mountain after that first night, and when he first sees the shirts hanging in the closet.  And of course, the final song shredding me as Ennis shuts the door.  This film is as close to perfection as cinema will ever get--in my lifetime anyway.  I'm sure of it.

I wasn't able to see it last weekend, but hope to this Friday or Saturday.  This will be my 15th time, and, since I've missed a week, I'm sure it's going to be another emotional ride.  I can hardly wait!

Tonight was the last show in Bay City. I went alone as usual. # 26

3 other people there.
1 other single guy about my age sitting towards the back.
2 men sitting together 2 rows behind me.
First time that there haven't been any women in the theatre.

I was the first one to get up to leave and all three guys looked right at me.
I felt like I was getting cruised. That hasn't happened in a long time. Smiley

#19....and probably final big screen viewing.....this was in a theatre in Seattle and it had the BEST sound system, far superior to any of my other viewings.   I hadn't realized that I was missing so much as far as the sound was concerned.   It was just so amazing.  The lighting on the screen seemed a bit brighter than before also.....boy, I'm hoping that I can hear all those new to me sounds on the DVD....

Gblady-
I noticed you mentioned a SEA theater showing BBM with good sound.  Which was it?  I know it’s only playing in just a handful of theaters in the greater metro area.

My 20 th yesterday, at the only theater left showing it in this area (Palm Springs). Older theater with awful sound system.
Took it down from the the much better theater last week, will still showing at this older theater for another week at least.
So I will still be able to see the boys on big screen next week.
Then I may have to content with the copy in my hard drive before the DVDs arrives.'

# 10 for me tonight.  I just found out it's playing in another place near me for another week.  After that, I can only pray.

I am wondering the same thing, gblady..... where is this killer sound system?

I saw it a couple of times at the new Lincoln Square Cinemas in Bellevue, and that was a very nice theater with good sound and super comfy seats.   Most of my viewings have been at Bella Bottega in Redmond,  because that's most convenient.  The sound is pretty good there, too.   The first time I saw it was at the Egyptian.  It was fun to see it with the Movie Bears there, but the sound was definitely muddled and I missed a lot.  That was my first time, on December 17.

The 10 pm show yesterday was the last one here in Baton Rouge (and #8 for me).  There were two girls in front of me and a young straight couple behind me - the couple left right after the confrontation scene with E/J towards the end of the movie (what cluelessness!).  I stayed until the credits were over and was the last person in the theater. I was sad for the normal reasons, of course,  but also because I'll most likely not see it on the big screen again...but what a ride it's been!!

Well, it was my ninth time last two nights ago... I´m on a business trip and it was raining for hours and I was close to this theater where they´re still showing it...soooo what else was I supposed to do?Whut?  Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Anyway.... this is not just to tell you that I saw it for the ninth time...but that I SWEAR I saw one scene I hadn´t seen before....it was maybe two-three seconds long but I hadn´t seen it before...  its when Ennis leaves after switching shifts with Jack, he tells him he won´t sleep much....after Ennis leaves the scene shows Jack for a couple of seconds looking at Ennis riding away... he was smiling.

Saw it last night, my third time only.  I also noticed the scene you described above, it was jut for a few seconds and if you do anything else other than just look at Jack's face you'll miss it.

Actually there were a few other subtle snapshots like that.  Another one is where Jack is either washing something or other with Ennis in the background cleaning up.  It shows Jack well aware of Ennis back there but won't dare turn to look and you see in Jacks face for about a split second a twitch that shows us his desire to turn but doesn't.

Can't wait for the DVD to better spot these split-second reaction from actually all the characters.

Well this looks like the place to post this comment...I was going to go see it last night on LAST time on the big screen before it left and it WAS GONE~!  I felt so weird...it's like, wait a minute....where did it go?  I was so use to it being around and that I could go any time I wanted (and did 11 times over the last 3 months) but damn, "you know friend, this is a god damed bitch of an unsatisfactory situation!"  Made me kinda sad....I loved the outdoor scenes on the big screen....oh well....guess it's gonna come out on DVD next month....still not the same....but it will have to do...

Thank the camp fire, camp tent and the imposing mountain to have granted a silent but great love between Ennis and Jack. Through every stormy sea and billowy tide, their love remains imposing like Brokeback Mountain.

I saw it at the Majestic Bay theatre in Ballard, but unfortunately, it was it's last day.....I checked and it's gone! Sad
Too bad, I was thinking of seeing it just for the sound one more time.  The only place that comes up for me on Yahoo or Fandango is the Egyptian Theatre.  Do you guys know of any other places in the area....Whut?

It looks like it's still at the Egyption in SEA.  Type in Seattle, WA instead of a zip code.  You should see 2 others besides the Egyptian.  Alderwood Lowes 16 has been faithfully playing it for months.  Redmond Botega is the other one in Redmond.  That is, if you can travel that far.  Good luck.
