When I went for a repeat viewing in London toward the end of its run there, the audience was made up of mainly women there on their own (one or two empty seats between each of us). That's when I started realising that maybe I wasn't crazy after all.

I went at the end of its run in Christchurch, and there were only about a dozen people there, mostly women, and a couple of men with their female partners.  Almost all my male friends go 'eewww' at the mere mention of BBM and would never go to see it.  Only a few of my female friends have seen it, and none of them were as affected by it as I have been.

Oh it sure has hold of this old woman again!  Never got much of a dialogue going with the online Brokies, and have been away (again) too long.  Just ran into the fact of THE BOOK, have ordered it from
Amazon and awaiting its arrival.  Interesting to me is mention of the large body of hetero women who have gotten hooked on Brokeback.  I sure would like to have a chat with some (or one) of them.  Watched the movie last night, first time in quite a while, on new big screen TV and oh my god it moved me, it moved me all over again.  I'd love to hear from someone out there.  Iristarr

Hi Iristarr...I'm not a great talker but I'd be happy to listen to you... Smiley

It's an awesome book!!  I'm sure you'll be very touched by it, it's a very moving and emotional book.

And rest assured, there are many  not-so-young straight women on this forum!!  Cheesy

Hello Iristar, Suelyblu here,  Brokeback really gets you doesn't it.  It's almost like you have a secret inside of you. People I know and haven't seen for a time and then bump into them say I visibly "glow". Whats my secret they ask.?. I tell you , the Brokeback Mountain magic is better than any beauty treatment I know .

Just wanted to post this here.

I went to lunch with a coworker named Susan.  She was asking me about my Brokie travels.  When I asked her if she had seen BBM, this was her reply.

"At first, I wasn't really into seeing it.  Then I got a call from my friend.  She wanted to go to the movies, and wanted to know if I wanted to see Brokeback.  I said if she wanted to, I would go.  Her reply was that she had seen it, and it made her cry, and touched her heart.  She wanted to see it again, but her husband didn't want to go.  So I saw it with her, and I loved it."

Not really.....she thought it was a great movie, the performances impressed her, but she's not a "Brokie", if you know what I mean.

However, she understood how the movie could affect me, and thought the traveling I'd done to meet other Brokies was great.

LOL Chuck!

I guess an answer after 4 months is better than no answer at all!!

 Smiley  Hi everyone:

I don't even know how to begin to answer this topic.  (Should have some time ago, but better late...).
BBM effected me so much, in my heart, in my mind, that it does not go away.  All I did is want to watch it again & again.  That is still the case.  The heartbreaking love story.  The tragic ending.  The lousy lives Ennis & Jack always had because they were not w/each other.  It hit me in every way.

As a woman, you may say I'm just being too sensitive and sad to the entire story; that may be so.  But I can't stop thinking about it to this day.  It's a classic already and we know it.  Heath and Jake  Kiss  are more than perfect.  With our dear Heath gone, it makes me cry even more.
Well, perhaps I'll be better another time.  Right now, I'm wanting to watch it again!  It really never leaves you, does it?
I LOVE IT AND ALWAYS WILL - true enough.
