Sorry, I didn't really hate him, I kind of hated him and loved him at the same time...I just felt so sorry for Jack. Today I just loved Ennis to bits.

Thats cool - And I know what you mean... You kind of want to shake Ennis and say 'Wake Up... Look at whats on offer...!!!'

So which part of the film makes you feel the most tearful...?

All of it does! All the lovely bits at the beginning, because we know how it's all going to end. I just love it when Jake smiles at Heath and tells him how talkative he's being...it's a real look of love. Their last scene together does my head in, but of course the visit to Jack's parents smashes my heart. And the final scenes with his daughter are so beautiful, but sad and so, so lonely.

I'm an American with a question for other English speakers:  Did you have a problem understanding what was being said?

To me, the speech was plain as day, except for one or two remarks.  But I've read man-on-the-street interviews from other countries in which the moviegoers commented about the dialect  (particularly Ennis's) being hard to follow.

I did not find it hard to understand at all... Not sure what others made of it, but I did think that Ennis' speech was slightly repressed, which symbolises his repression, and on a practical level the fact that he felt uncomfortable and limited in his abilities to connect and communicate with others...

I had no problems with the speech at all, except for the one or two words which are causing discussion elsewhere.  I went into the film thinking I'd have to really listen hard, but that wasn't the case at all.

Hey....  we've got our own thread!

The first time I saw BBM people laughed at Alma seeing the reunion, but the laughter seemed to be mixed with gasps of horror....it wasn't ha ha how funny sort of laughter at all.

The second time no-one laughed though I did hear a couple of drawn in breathes.

And I found no problems understanding Ennis though a friend of mine did when she saw it.
