Thanks for sharing that with us, Dixon.
I think EVERYONE should see BBM.
It has a positive, life-changing power...

I just got next week's Radio Times - Andrew Collins tips Heath to win Best Actor in the Baftas, but not Jake in Supporting.  Barry Norman also has an article on Jake - got a nice piccie in there.

Is there anyone else here who has had absolutely NO previous interest in the Baftas but who is going to be glued to their sets come Sunday to see what awards 'our' movie is going to pick up.  Or is it just me?

I'm not sure why the plane is an issue. It's too far away to tell what type it was so as to date it, and as for it being there in the first place, that shouldn't be a problem. Seeing a plane in such a shot is like seeing a double decker bus on 'To sir with love'. Planes in the sky even in the sixties was pretty normal stuff in the US.

Hey Dixon... Thats quite a story... And if you can it would be interesting to hear what you have to say to Lorena's questions...

I think that if you can get him to go and watch BBM with you then you should... The main message to me is on missing out on opportunities of love through fear or not speaking out... So even if its not with you... If this guy would be happier with a guy, then maybe the film will give him the courage to pursue what he really wants... Rather than look back in 10 years to what might have been...

So, I guess its over to me...

I am a mid 30's male and have only ever had relationships with women, but have never been one of those to scorn at gay relationships, and have had friends who have had them and are in them etc... Do not want to say 'I have gay friends' - sounds so corny and patronising...

So last year I was out absolutely hammered with my best friend (newish best friend), and in a gay club (we like the music etc), and he kissed me... Well thats the way that I remember it anyway... And I kissed him back and it was like electricity... So we made a quick exit back to mine... He is also married btw...

He explained that he was bi-sexual etc... Anyway we saw each other as much as we could for about 6 months and then the love thing came up and we both backed off...

He is still married - and we had a big chat and got nowhere in agreeing a way forward, and he said that maybe we should just go back to being friends, and I kind of agreed... But when we said goodbye (in front of others) our eyes met, and it really told a different story...

Have not really seen each other properly this year yet... Who knows where its going... I told him to watch BBM - Not sure if he has yet or not... I know that he does not like HL as an actor...

So around the time of the big chat, I got to hear of a film BBM based on book by Annie Proulx... and read it, and the rest is as stated here...

I am not sure that we could have a life together - but I do know that I have only every connected with two other people in that way before, with that amount of intensity...

Enough for now... Please feel free to ask questions...

Over to you Lorena, and any others that want to share their stories... I really want to read them...

I have not really been into the BAFTA's before either...

So are we all meeting on line here, as they are on, or MSN or something...?

Lorena,

You render me speechless... What an amazing story... Thats all I can say for now, so much to digest... and think about...

I know this is a slightly leftfield question, but can I ask what work you do...?

Dixon,

thanks for being so honest with us.     No we won't go down that road re the Catholic church - I reckon we've all got plenty to grieve about with that lot, but they're far from the only ones.

hope you find someone nice, if you really want to that is.    People have a habit of turning up when you least expect them -
so I'll be around next week right ?  just leave the key under the mat and whey hay ! Grin

Now now Lorena, There is no need to be so blatent...!!! Remember some decorum please...

Have you guys (blokes?) noticed the "live" BAFTA thread in the awards fourm:

http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=825.0

My understanding is that BBC1 will be broadcasting live starting at 9:00 PM GMT, which is 4:00 PM EST and 1:00 PM PST

Hope we can work things out so you can be our eyes and ears across the pond

What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.
