Thank you everyone for your patience and good wishes. My surgeon tells me I can expect to be away from work for two weeks, so that should give me plenty of reading time, maybe not enough for all the books I am hoping to read though.
That might take a life time! Shocked

I've never participated in this thread but I would do so for this book because I'm reading it now. Ten years ago I thought, "how on earth could those kids' parents not have the slightest inkling what they were up to?" Now that my kids are teenagers, I know how crafty they can be about hiding things. So I'm looking forward to discussing Dave's book with you all.

Great!  Look forward to seeing you there.  And yes, central to the discussion will be what signs there were, what the parents did and didn't notice and how deceptive were the perpetrators.

Michael,

I've read the book, and look forward to the discussion. I'm interested in how stories come into being and solidify into narratives, among other things.

Interesting question...especially because I have on good authority that when our revels have ended they often melt into thin air.  Wink

Good luck, Janjo Smiley.   I hope you'll be out and about in the countryside soon.

I have some free reading time coming up, so I'll be joining you.    I found the Columbine part of Dave's site really interesting, and looking forward to reading more.   Thanks for organising it, Michael.

Unless, I say otherwise, I'm probably talking about the short story, not the movie. Smiley
