Dan,

I reach out to you to comfort you of your many losses.  In my mind I hear those words spoken at King Edward VII funeral, back in 1910.  Strangely, no matter our social status these words hold true:

========================

Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away into the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That we are still
Call me by my old familiar name
Speak to me in the easy way you always used
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we always enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was
Let it be spoken without effort
Without the trace of a shadow in it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same as it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you for an interval
Somewhere very near
Just around the corner
All is well.
========================

Someone sent me these words when my father died.  I had never heard them before, but somehow they rang so true to my inner emotions.  It help me to find a place to put my father's spirit.  Now in my Brokeback years, I like to think of Jack's spirit reaching out to us with these words as well.

Take care Dan.

  Also Scott Mackenzie passed on, whose song "If you're going to San Francisco...." was always, and still is, one of my favorites.

Darn. Neil Armstrong has died. One of my heroes.

I liked him for what he did, as well as for the non-showy way he lived his life.

Will miss his ascerbic wit.

Me too. And his intelligent essays, throught-provoking memoirs and intriguing novels.

A little while ago ...I mentioned here on line that my elderly neighbor was taken really ill and was given just a few months to live. This morning ...she died. She had been my neighbor ever since we moved into this house. We have shared cups of coffee....had some laughs......and shed some tears.
Will really miss her cheery "Good Morning" .
Rest in peace Barbra. We will miss you.
