I just found out today that an early forum member Bill Sheldon, passed away on march 24, 2012.
He was not an "active" member, but lurked for many years.
I met him at my BBQ in 2006, and he attended just the one day on Saturday with some friends.
He was from Austin, TX, just up the road from where I lived in San Antonio.

He was an avid runner and vintage car collector. He came to a mini marathon in San Francisco a couple of years ago, and Michael and I were able to have dinner with him and his friends. I remember him fondly, and he was a wonderful man.

Born on April 1, 1954, he is survived by his mother and stepfather Agnes and John Tynan of Canyon Lake, sister Susan Sheldon of Waterloo, Iowa, nephews Ryan, Luke and Paul, and stepsisters Carey and Kaye. He also leaves behind a large and devoted group of friends.

Bill graduated from Southwestern University in 1976 and was employed at the Texas Comptroller's office in the unclaimed property division. He was an avid classic car enthusiast and was a member of the national Buick Car club in addition to the local Buick Club and the "Classic Chassis". His pride and joy was his 1962 Buick Special "Frannie". He was also a devoted runner and was a member of the Capitol City Front Runners.

Not Brokeback connected, but a friend of mine died last week. Our local agent for the Liberal Democrats in Southend West, was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and then died suddenly at the age of 55.
My companion on election nights for almost 30 years, and a man of great wisdom and humour, he was also a senior teacher at a local school, and has received numerous heartfelt tributes from his students.
Nigel you will be very, very sadly missed.

I am so sorry to hear about the death of your friend and election night companion.
I know he will be missed by you and his students, past and present, his wisdom and humour.
May he rest in peace.
