It's so sad to think of all this....my father was just diagnosed with cancer Tuesday...tomorrow I go with him to the doctors and for my mother she is already thinking about how she is going to live without him ..it drives me crazy but I'm not in her shoes...he's 82 yrs old....I keep telling her to keep positive and she will never be alone, she has us kids..

I'm so sorry Daniela.....my heart goes out to him....I'm keeping you and your father in my thoughts.

I do hope that by now you've had some news that contains hope, Nellie.

I do undestarnd how your mother feels - your mind goes rushing ahead into all the worst scenarios.  Best just to think them, not to say them, but sometimes it's hard not to.

If it is any consolation, my mother in law was diagnosed with cancer 5 years ago, she had an operation, chemotherapy and radiotherapy, and at the age of 89 has just been signed off by her oncologist as completely cured. She will be 90 in May.

Morrobay (Nancy)....my sympathies are with you at this time of year. To lose a child of ones own must be unbearable. I have a friend who lost her 13 year old daughter to Cystic Fibrosis some years ago and even now I can be reduced to tears by thoughts of her. I can only imagine your sorrow and sadness.

I want to thank everyone for all the hugs, they helped immeasurably.

I hope it's not morbid to post this picture.  I rarely get back to Pennsylvania to visit her grave, but my sister went back last week and sent me this.  My Dad bought the stone when I was unable to afford it, and I decided to only put her first name on it...people who knew and loved her would know who she was...

thanks for letting me share.

eta; there is a small round stone on top of the headstone, and an little angel and cross statue in front, we don't know who left them, but it was very touching to see.

Nellie,
I wanted to reply to you, too, about your Dad.  A friend of mine was diagnosed earlier this summer and she is having remarkable success w/her chemo, and side effects are not as bad as we all expected.

I hope things go well.

In commemoration of the passing of Norman Corwin at age 101.
A master of the spoken word. The best writing heard on American radio mid-20th century.

A broadcast heard on CBS Radio upon the announcement of the surrender of Germany in 1945.

Quote
Lord God of test-tube and blueprint
Who jointed molecules of dust and shook them till their name was Adam,
Who taught worms and stars how they could live together,
Appear now among the parliaments of conquerors and give instruction to their schemes:
Measure out new liberties so none shall suffer for his father's color or the credo of his choice:
Post proofs that brotherhood is not so wild a dream as those who profit by postponing it pretend:
Sit at the treaty table and convoy the hopes of the little peoples through expected straits,
And press into the final seal a sign that peace will come for longer than posterities can see ahead,
That man unto his fellow man shall be a friend forever.

If anyone is on here this morning, I need some help. A friend of a friend's partner passed away suddenly and the surviving partner does not have a support group. Brokies rallied around me and saved my life when the movie came out. I'm looking to see if we can get help for him in the Burbank, CA area where he lives. Anyone have any help?

Thanx!

Bobby

I'm sorry to hear that, the loss itself is hard enough when you have people close.  I bet Jimmy (gnash) could help with that, he's in Southern CA...you could PM him.
