"Avoid it" on the one hand, keep on insulting on the other.
"Sale pédé" is still the most current insult in France between men, and the poor Jewish guy who was tortured almost to death the other day, had it written all over his front, written by his torturers.

"Pédé" makes me almost laugh, since, what most people ignore, it stems from the Greek word paedos, young boy, and designs just a little boy. Pedophilia and homosexuality thus are, strange enough, synonyms in the French language.

And "homo" is even funnier. It means "Mensch", human being. Who wouldn't want to be a homo - we're all homo's, for that matter.

"Ecce homo" tells us the New Testament.

Isn't "homosexual" a hybrid word anyway, like "television", a mixture of 1. Greek and 2. Latin?
