Take me out to the ballgame
Take me out with the crowd
Buy me some peanuts and crackerjacks
I don't care if I ever get back
For it's root, root, root for the Phillies
If they don't win it's a shame
'Cause it's one, two, three strikes you're out
At the Phillies' game

(with apologies to whoever wrote this old fav)

Dedicated to all baseball fans Grin

Hey thanks!  But you got the lyrics a bit wrong, it's:

For it's root, root, root for the Phillies
If they don't win it's a shame the same...

Yay, so far so good!  Best record in the majors--no losses and three wins!    Grin

Three wins, 159 to go!

Oh mercy me! Can it be true -- 3 out of 4!  But.......in the immortal words of Scarlett O'Hara, "Tomorrow's another day."   Cry

Hi Nikki
I'm a bad fan.  I don't get ESPN and always forget to check online for scores.  The only games I can really follow are the Cubs on WGN America, which keeps me from jonesing...

I don't even know how the Giants are doing, but I'm going to look it up right now...

Go Phils!

Our home opener yesterday was filled with a sense of optimism about the
future, because of new owners and such, and a blast from the past because
it was the exact 50th Anniversary of the opening of Dodger Stadium in 1962!

So all throughout the game there were references to what things were
like back in 1962--the popular music, tv and movies.  The politics of the
time and what Los Angeles looked liked.  It was something different.

I don't recall anyone talking about this blast from the past:

50 years ago a premium ticket cost $3.50.

You can't even get a Dodger Dog for that now!

Fifty years later:

In 1962 you could go to 32 games for the same price!

And the popular music from 1962 enjoyed a resurgence with
"The Beach Boys" performing the national anthem!

All the players from the 1962 Dodger team, who were
able to, attended as well and took turns in the announcer's
booth for reminiscences during the game.

We won it by a home run from one of our star players,
Andre Ethier, and it happened to be his 30th birthday!
