Place your bets...

San Francisco 49ers Are Super Bowl XLVII Favorite in Las Vegas

At the MGM family of sports books, the 49ers opened with 10/1 odds, which was tied for the fifth best odds with the New Orleans Saints. Since then, the 49ers have moved up four slots and are now 4/1 favorites to win Super Bowl 47.

Hi Nancy,

Check in occasionally, but not too active as outside activities have kept me busy.

As for the Phils ---- what can I say?  The most rabid fans have now lost heart (...and you've gotta have heart, miles and miles of heart...).  Rumors abound in the media: Victorino is being traded, Hamels is being traded or offered the biggest raise since C.C. Sabithia, and Rollins is smething or other. IOW "there is no joy in Mudville, etc......'

ok, the olympics are already annoying and I'm sick of Michael Phelps and his family....isn't there any other hard-working olympian they can interview?

The good news is football is here...almost.  The first preseason game is on NFL Network 8/5 (that's next Sunday!), then ESPN has the Cowboys/Raiders 8/13.

The NFL schedule of nationally televised 2012 preseason games, starting with the Arizona Cardinals and New Orleans Saints in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Game on Sunday, Aug. 5 (NFL Network, 8 p.m. ET) in Canton, Ohio.

Two teams looking to get back into the playoffs -- the Dallas Cowboys and Oakland Raiders -- will be showcased in prime time Monday, Aug. 13 (ESPN, 8 p.m. ET).

The Super Bowl champion New York Giants will host the Chicago Bears on Friday, Aug. 24 (CBS, 8 p.m. ET) for their first nationally televised game since defeating the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

Who are your college teams, Linda?  Or is there only one?

Well I actually watch just about all college football available, but like Stanford, CAL, USC and UCLA. I get those televised out here, and actually watched them while still living in TX. Like the TX teams, but don't see those televised out here much, unless they are a featured network game. And for some reason follow Boise State every year. Love their blue playing field and they are always the underdog against the big boys and usually hold their own.

Stanford and CAL of course are right down and up the street from here. I always have to know when the games are, when riding public transportation out here, as it gets really crazy when they are playing.

I used to love that!  Get up on Sundays, have coffee while watching the NFL pregame at 9am and then football all day long.  Great days.

Very sad day in Eagles Nation. Funeral of Andy Reid's oldest son, Garrett Reid, who was found dead in his dorm room on Lehigh's campus Sunday morning. The Eagles hold their training there and Garrett worked with the fitness and training coaches. He had a long history of drug addiction, but everyone thought he had passed the worst of it.  Tox will show what actually killed him although the police said no evidence of foul play or suicide.  Andy's statement to the press was that his son had lost his battle to his demons, but had a big heart. Every one who was anyone in the football world attended the funeral at The Church of The Latter Day Saints in a suburb of Philly. Reid is expected to be on the line for Thursday's pre-season game.
