the SF Chronicle headline reads, "BODE MILLER: He's the biggest bust in Olympic history."

i have really been feeling sorry for him.

though i'm not sure i should.

Hockey Fans! I got my new Sports Illustrated and they printed a NHL Players Poll on who the players think is the best player in the NHL. It broke down like this:

42% Peter Forsberg-Flyers
24% Jaromir Jagr-Rangers
9% Jarome Iginla-Flames
5% Joe Thornton-Sharks

I haven't follwed Hockey closely for awhile but I remember when Forsberg was with Colorado and he and Sakic were awesome. What do guys think of the player's choices?

What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.

Grin didn't know about this thread till welll uh this morning. Growing up in the canadian hinterlands...hockey's it. I played hockey all the way through university. Believe me leading a double life was difficult. The tension sometimes was friggin unbearable. Sure played a role in my aggressive tendencies.
I do however have a lifelong friend from that sport who has been supportive as he figured me out eventually. I sure was in love with him. I couldn't bring myself to tell him that then. He married, moved to France with his wife has two kids. Well now he's single again! Well the divorce was difficult, time is passing and he's getting on with his life.
PeteinPortland said this of Ennis:
"He didn't know how to maintain his core identity (his manhood) and live freely in the world". Well that speaks to me at every level of my hidden identity. Who the hell could I turn to?
Sports is a good life. I made it sound like it was all rough. It wasn't. The attachment and bond one makes is very special. There's nothing in my mind that transcends the unique bond of men struggling together to achieve a goal. (Please support our military as they have been asked to do something challenging and with little reward. The social costs are so high).

As far as Bode Miller is concerned-he's still one the best downhill skiers. He's got my support and admiration even in the tough times. Joey Cheek, a class act.  Kiss
Stay well folks, stay fit in all spheres. I am a proud gay athlete.

i've heard Bode Miller talk about his approach to life and sport a few times; if he believes what he says and acts according to that, then i like the way he thinks. currently he and Johnny Weir are my favourite athletes because of the way they live their lives, being true to themselves.

Smiley Lance is there any record of these conversations involving Bode Miller. I'd like to know. Greg Louganis is a class act. Take raw talent develop it and you get an olympic champion.
