The webcam link is stunning - thanks.  I clicked on a link from it & found out about mountain top weddings.

Imagine getting married on "Brokeback".  I've been engaged for about 5 years & so far have been uninspired to organise a wedding, but this has got me thinking...

TB

TB, that is really exciting!  I'm glad you were inspired.

John John, isn't it amazing how the mountain grabs you.  I love the way the view changes with the time of day and updates.

Courage.  Our lives after Brokeback require courage.  (French pronunciation - a tad more dramatic.)

tellyouwhat's Daily Sheet (5/31) is just great. I don't think there is life "after" Brokeback because it gets integrated or assimilated into our consciousness, our selves. It's changed everything and there's no going back.

Come to think of it, I don't think there is a "before" Brokeback either because , as amdaz said: [I've seen it] “16 times (at this writing)…Tell you what... I have been waiting to see this movie all my life." We all knew it was there. It just took a long, long time to arrive.

I'm looking forward to the BBQ in August.

Thanks for a great sheet!

Wiley, thank you for reading, and thank you for answering my question!  I was beginning to suspect as much.

I will be glad to see you at the Texas BBQ.

This week might be the best week ever for The Daily Sheet! Tellyouwhat (Ellen) and Cactusgal (Jan) spend a great amount of time to put out this awesome feature for our site.

A great big thanks to them. Excellent work!

Also, a big thanks to Sharyn, the Editorial Assistant, and the many contributors. Thank you all!

I now start my day, not with reading "The Washington Post", as I have done for 40 years, but by reading "The Daily Sheet'.  My priorities are finally correct.  Thank you to all the staff.

The Jack interview in today's TDS!!  Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss ! I'm so glad he was in the sheet. It's funny, I was actually thinking about Jack yesterday thinking I really should pm him about how much I appreciate his posts because they're often witty and always caring. Now is a good opportunity as ever to say it out loud instead. Smiley

I also enjoyed the part about the Brits 100 page celebration. Cheesy ... I think I know who represents the Oops part. Grin

Thanks to everyone who works with the Daily Sheet!  Kiss

Like paintedshoes, I also like starting my day with the daily sheet.
I've been on this forum since December and have enjoyed so many threads---But the daily sheet kick-starts it all at the beginning of the day.
A special thank-you to all the editors and contibutors as well.

This is a bit picky, but since our medium is, in fact, the written word you can't be too picky, IMO.  The Daily Sheet refers to the Marquis of Queensbury rules.  It is in fact the Marquess of Queensbury.  Marquis is the French spelling of a similar title held by the Englishman, the Marquess of Queensbury.  Just an FYI.

MTV Movies Awards--They Love Our Little Darlin

Well, the rest of the world agrees with us. That kiss between Jake and Heath was pretty darn hot! Jake and Heath won for Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards. The awards were handed out last night and will air on June 8th (and repeatedly after that for the next month). As the news is everywhere, and it is four days until the awards air, we felt safe to bring our forum members the much anticipated news.

Jake was present to accept the award for best kiss. Here is what he had to say:

“This is a real honor, not just for me and Heath but for all of you, that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones.”

Awww. Thank you Jake. You just made the crowd at Eyelashes love you even more (if that is even possible).

Even better, Jake also won for Best Performance, beating out Reese Witherspoon among others.

All-in-all, it was a good night for Brokeback Mountain as the younger generation showed the rest of the world how important our movie is to them and how that special kiss and these special performances deserve to be recognized.

For more information, you can check out the MSNBC article on the awards:

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/13124173/

This is wonderful news for BBM, and for Jake's and Heath's careers, and for their fans! Thanks to the Daily Sheet for pointing out the results.

Thanks, twistedboy, I was wondering about that (having heard it pronounced with the hard s sound by everyone, including John Wayne in "The Quiet Man.")  But I figured it was a mispronunciation.  Well, no point in blaming anybody else, when in doubt quote trivia and change the subject!

When I saw today's Daily Sheet and the photo of the Northern Mockingbird (state bird of Texas) in honor of "Jack", it reminded me of the film To Kill a Mockingbird, which I saw a couple weeks ago.
Does anyone have a copy of the book or film?  There is a passage  where Scout describes the effects of killing a mockingbird and relates it to the taking of a human life.  It seems to me that beautiful prose would relate to Jack's demise.  If someone could post that I think it would be nice.

By the way, when Jake Gyllenhaal was a guest on the Tonight Show, he mentioned that a fan of Brokeback Mountain had sent to him, as a gift, a signed first edition of To Kill a Mockingbird.  Maybe the fan had connected these thoughts together as well.
