The only food I can think of that doesn't spoil is salt.

Liked the story about Green Lantern, but I believe he was portrayed by Ryan Reynolds, not Ryan Gosling, in the movie. Gosling would not have been a bad choice, either.  Wink

I don't know how far patents go (when they were started), but
Thomas Jefferson invented several things so he's my choice.

Last Week's Question:  What is the only food that does not spoil?
The correct answer is honey.

Well, that's good to know, I have a teeny tiny promotional jar of honey--a movie item
that was promoting Ulee's Gold and I've had it for years!

here is a question, don't know if Chuck can answer it --

How long will a can of Bettermost (not really) Beans last?  The kind you get at a BBQ in TX in 2006?

Hello Sandy!  Thanks for the correction.  I knew it was Ryan Reynolds, I have no idea why I put Gosling there.  I made the correction to TDS.

I'm sure honey is correct, but has anyone ever heard of spoilt salt?

I'm sure salt is correct too.

I'm sure honey is correct, but has anyone ever heard of spoilt salt?

I'm sure salt is correct too.

Salt, also known as table salt, or rock salt, is a crystalline mineral that is composed primarily of sodium chloride (NaCl), a chemical compound belonging to the larger class of ionic salts. It is essential for animal life in small quantities, but is harmful to animals and plants in excess. Salt is one of the oldest, most ubiquitous food seasonings and salting is an important method of food preservation.   Salt is an additive to food, but not classified as a "food".

Honey is a mixture of sugars and other compounds. With respect to carbohydrates, honey is mainly fructose (about 38.5%) and glucose (about 31.0%), making it similar to the synthetically produced inverted sugar syrup, which is approximately 48% fructose, 47% glucose, and 5% sucrose. Honey's remaining carbohydrates include maltose, sucrose, and other complex carbohydrates.  As with all nutritive sweeteners, honey is mostly sugars and contains only trace amounts of vitamins or minerals.  Honey also contains tiny amounts of several compounds thought to function as antioxidants, including chrysin, pinobanksin, vitamin C, catalase, and pinocembrin. The specific composition of any batch of honey depends on the flowers available to the bees that produced the honey.

Typical honey analysis:
 Fructose: 38.2%
 Glucose: 31.3%
 Maltose: 7.1%
 Sucrose: 1.3%
 Water: 17.2%
 Higher sugars: 1.5%
 Ash: 0.2%
 Other/undetermined: 3.2%

Honey has nutritional value, and is considered a food.

Honey is sometimes used by doctors to help heal wounds, because of its property of keeping forever. Bacteria etc can't live in it.

Awww... Sonja, honey!

 Kiss

Sorry, I'm not trying to rub salt in your wounds  Cheesy

Actually, one of my best friends did a school project on bees and honey production, and that's the only reason I knew the answer to that question.

seems unbelievable...it took until 2012?

Adam just released his new CD, Tresspassing, and it debuted on the Billboard Top 200 at #1, making Adam the first openly gay man to hit #1 on the Billboard Album chart.   Elton John and George Michael both hit #1 as well, but they were not out at the time of their chart runs.

This came in too late to make it into TDS:

Focus Features anniversary screening, followed by a conversation with Ang Lee and James Schamus.
