Well, since we’re on a Lucy roll, in Los Angeles Lucy is popping up everywhere at the moment.  There was just a concert staging of a musical in the works called "Dance with Me," which is also the name of the RKO movie that Lucy and Desi met on, I think, or something like that.  The plot basically concerns the meeting, courtship and marriage of Lucy & Desi.  There is also a small 4 person musical playing in a theatre in Hollywood called "The Cuban and the Redhead" aka "Redhead, Cuban, Hausfrau, Husband" and is about the behind the scenes relationships of the I Love Lucy days.  In addition, the El Portal Theatre in North Hollywood has just begun auditions for casting live stage versions of I Love Lucy episodes, and this has the backing of Lucie Arnaz and Laurence Luckinbill.

Smiley  Hi Lyle - continuing the Lucy/Desi roll:
Wasn't the movie called Too Many Girls when Lucy and Desi met?  It was made in 1940; they married the same year. Desi was six yrs. younger than Lucy, but they both admitted it was a lot of love at first sight.

I'm so glad to read the information above; it is always wonderful to see anything re Lucy & Desi.  I always wished they would get back together.

Kathy,

They met during pre-production on TOO MANY GIRLS, but Lucy was still filming (a fight sequence with Maureen O'Hara) DANCE, GIRL, DANCE the day she met Desi.

I remember every time if I would be watching I LOVE LUCY with my grandmother and she saw L & D she'd say, "They separated, didn't they?"  EVERY time, God bless her.

And God bless Miss Ball.  Oh, I hope to make it to the Lucy-Desi Museum in honor of her centennial next year!  And certainly hope to meet her in the afterlife.

In response to this week's question, I think Moose's real name (no wonder he goes by Moose!) is Marmaduke Mason.  And his girlfriend is Midge (last name either Klump or Klumf, I think).  Moose is nice, but he's no Reggie, or even Jughead (must be their blue-black hair).   Roll Eyes

Hi, Fritz!  Yep, it's there.  I've never been to that part of the country so I'm doubly hoping I get to visit there.

Hi Mark --
Thank you for the information.  I appreciate it.  Oh, your grandmother!

The Lucy-Desi  Kiss  Museum - this is not the one in Jamestown, NY, is it?  Where lucy was born?  Or is it in CA?  I'd love to see it too.  I believe they both are very happy again in the afterlife because they are where they should always have been - together.
No divorce.  This upset me so  much when I was so young.

mark, i do believe you are correct! ...and not one guess that it might have been Lyle "Moose" Ka  Wink

i read somewhere that in a poll asking archie fans and readers who they felt archie andrew should marry, they voted for veronica first, then betty.

guess who came in 3rd? JUGHEAD! Cheesy

Lyle Moose-ka!  I love it!!   Cheesy   You must tell him!

I always thought that Reggie and Betty would make a good couple!  They did a story on this once, where they dated awhile.  He actually showed a different side with her.  Archie is nowhere good enough for Betty.

And Veronica is way too stuck on herself to love anyone...

Oh well, in comic books as life so few people we think would go well together actually GET together...

Betty!! Betty!!  Betty!!

you're right, sadly -- Archie just can't appreciate Betty, more's the pity for him.  Angry  After all this time he deserves either Veronica or Jughead.

Greetings:
I am Fletcher Rhoden, the writer/director, composer and lyricist of REDHEAD CUBAN HAUSFRAU HUSBAND the new musical about the making of television's greatest sitcom.  I'm glad you're all showing an interest in the show, now playing at the Mt. Hollywood Theater in Los Angeles, CA.  But I have to make a correction: Although the titles are similar, my REDHEAD CUBAN HAUSFRAU HUSBAND is NOT the play also known as (aka) THE CUBAN AND THE REDHEAD.  That play follows the early love story of the two tv greats, ending when the tv series begins.  My play follows the creation of the tv show and the arcs of the relationships of the four stars during its decade-long run.  REDHEAD CUBAN HAUSFRAU HUSBAND features 12 new songs and is a 90 stage musical in two acts.  We were called, "Another great night of theater in Los Angeles" and "Filled with inspiration and humor" by local and online press, plus much more!  I have never seen THE CUBAN AND THE REDHEAD, although I would like to put a double-feature together for next year's Lucy centennial.  Any backers out there interested?
Any fans of these tv icons should come see the show while it lasts -- must end Sept. 4!
