As regards the National Ledger article, found at:

http://www.nationalledger.com/artman/publish/article_27264020.shtml

I've just responded to the author as follows:

***

Your article displays an astonishing ignorance of film: Ang Lee is an internationally recognized director with a broad body of work held in universal high regard; Paul Haggis is not.

The Academy has chosen to disagree with every other awarding body this year, and the outcry by fans of Brokeback Mountain is unsurprising.

Your comments are inappropriate and ill-informed.

Way Cool Trent has it up with a picture as well with the following intro in addition to our press release.

I love it! Had I known I would've chipped in a couple bucks to help out. I love it when regular people take it upon themselves to do something like this. Brokeback Mountain obviously touched many people and it's great to see that fans can deal with their Academy Award disappointment in a positive manner. Cheer up guys, Brokeback is sure to clean up at this year's MTV Movie Awards

For those unfamiliar with pink is the new blog, check it out. He's become a national figure and received a lot of national coverage lately.

The Ad is now the #1 story at www.gay.com - when you arrive on the home page there is the pic of Jack and Ennis with "A Brokeback" fan's Thank-You Ad" as the title. Clicking takes you to the news story well laid out and presented!

Great stuff!

I thought this forum was supposed to be about news regarding the ad?

You are correct.  Can we try to keep this thread for the media coverage of the ad?  The idea was to make it easier to find out about media coverage in one place.

There is another thread for us to discuss the ad and our responses and it is here:

http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=1721.0

Thanks

did somebody post the Advocate link already?

http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid27732.asp

and woohoo, for Texas Girl, she made the story.

(i have updated the first post with all the ones i saw, by the way.)

---

i know you guys want to make suggestions on outlets to contact here, but PLEASE keep this thread clear for people to see links about us. i hate deleting any posts, but i'm going to have to ask the mods to do so. otherwise it will defeat the point of this thread.

please keep suggestions coming, but offer them on this thread:

Lol. Neat!

And I'm very stunned by the Ebert.com site placing an article about our ad.  I mean, of all the places. Wow. I have no idea how to feel about that. I guess shocked is a nice word.  Cheesy

Thanks to all of you who have donated and who have volunteered for this. It is truly wonderful.

We are still accepting contributions for this campaign, and it is still going strong. We have followed your conversations, and I need to let you know, that as of now, we feel we have to use all of this money for what we have said it would be used.

For today, let's catch our breath and enjoy this wonderful thing we have done. Tomorrow, we will talk about the next step in the ad campaign and if there are other things we want to do in addition to it (such as set up a separate account for taking up a collection for the Matthew Shepard Foundation and making a donation in the names of Jack Twist and Ennis Del Mar).

Thank you all from the entire administrative team here at The Ultimate Brokeback Forum.
