Does that mean that while we're thanking them, they're thanking us!

That's how I see it also, VickyOuk -- obviously they have become aware of the Variety Ad.

It's probably in all the ads, or most of them.

I've tried scanning but can't seem to be able to make it work.   ANY ONE who may be able to scan to post would be appreciated.

I would not be surprised if that were so. Focus did get the copy of the ad yesterday. Tho I think that might be a bit fast to change the movie ad. However if they got wind of this from the beginning or have seen this forum at all they are matching our ad perfectly..."Across America and Around the World" tho one of them does not mention Ang Lee but rathjer says "Love is a Force of Nature.  Be interesting if they intentionally coincided that with our "fans from around the world" If so I think that is a very nice tribute to what we did in Variety.

The BBM Theater Ad in the San Antonio Express News shows something I've never seen before.  It shows the following around Heath and Jake and above the "Academy Award Winner. . ."  The new print shows:

ACROSS AMERICA AND
AROUND THE WORLD LOVE
IS A FORCE OF NATURE!

Thank you to all the moviegoers & organizations
who have made "Brokeback" the most talked
about and celebrated movie of the year.

"ANG LEE'S UNMISSABLE
FILM IS A LANDMARK!"

I'm not able to scan it correctly -- please check your morning papers and see if the above has been added.

It looks great.

Since Boston reports it -- it must be a national addition -- perhaps from Focus?

edited to update also seen in Boston.

Very similar ad in South Florida Sun-Sentinel that was a half-page, same quotes, pics of Heath & Jake, etc.

I might add that the Gateway is one of only 2 theaters in Ft. Lauderdale that is reopening Crash, and their marquee was changed yesterday afternoon in preparation for today.  It reads in HUGE LETTERS:  ACADEMY AWARD WINNERS with the next line (in smaller letters)  BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN  (note it being listed first!) and CRASH.  With only a rerelease into 150 theaters, that can't be a significant rerelease.

This all is totally amazing.  I can't believe what I am reading.  Sorry, but someone left the door open and I had to walk thru it - I guess someone is waking up with eggs this morning out west, and it sure isn't in their stomach!

What you people have done is totally short of a miracle.  So sez "The Power of the Press!"  I am respectful for all the love and compassion the people on here has shown to so many.  What a wonderful weekend I am going to have.  Thank you.

I don't know if anyone saw my post from yesterday, but I wondered if a press release had been sent to www.logoonline.com  That's the gay/lesbian network on satellite TV.  They have links with CBS News, and have been pushing BBM very strongly.  Anyway, I'm not sure how to send the press release, so if it hasn't already been done, it might be a good place to send it.

Thanks!  This is so amazing. . . I can hardly stand it. Smiley

Sorry-I just checked the Logoonline website, and the Advocate article about the ad is right there.  It's placed very prominently.  So, they know!!

I went to the news stand here in Los Angeles this morning, picked up the Variety, and stood there crying when I saw the ad.  This is wonderful--a rare moment when fans speak out.  I hope the cast and crew all see this and feel the respect and love we have for them.  THIS SO ROCKS!!!

I have three extra copies and intend to find more.  Email me at blackhatnbead@aol.com if you want one.

I AM LOVING THIS!!!

There are bound to be some detractors, but do not let that upset you. . .

I probably shouldn't have bothered, but I sent her the press release and requested that she actually read it instead of relying on an online gossip blog as her news source as to our motivations for the ad. I also invited her to visit this forum where she would find "nary a bitchy queen in sight."  Smiley

Emerson runs Ebert's site and he thought BBM should have won Best Picture.  It's unclear how much Ebert even knows about the workings of his own site.

Great quotes in the Advocate piece about the ad, Dave.

Dave Cullen, whose Web site hosts the Ultimate Brokeback Forum, told The Advocate that the group's message to Hollywood is simple: "You can make more of these. The red states are ready for them." Cullen lives in Denver.

How disappointed was Cullen when Jack Nicholson read aloud the title Crash as the Best Picture winner? "My first response was that there had been a mistake. I just gasped," he said. "I was shocked. I really could not believe it. I think they were afraid. I don't want to try to read their minds, but I think they were clearly afraid of it. One part of the Hollywood Academy was scared to death of it."

The Advocate article has a link to the ad itself.  Well done!  Great job, people!
