In the past couple days, we've been featured on a gay radio talk show in Boston, and the AfterElton website.

A few newspaper stories are in the works.

We'll use this thread to keep you up to date, and include permanent links.

One in Ten Radio Show:

AfterElton Stories:

Thread: http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=344.0

Direct to the story: http://www.afterelton.com/movies/2006/1/cullen.html

(Update: they followed with several more stories/citations of us.)

Update: Feb 20, 2006:

Gannet Newspaper story:

Sunday, this site was the main focus of the cover story in a New Jersey paper's Sunday Magazine.

The story includes many quotes from Dave, and other members of this site.

And there are three related pieces which people here seem to be enjoying.

The link to our piece is:

http://www.courierpostonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060219/SJMAG/602190336/1067

The full package is here:

And the discussion in this thread starts here:

http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?topic=351.msg51497#msg51497

The story has now been picked up by the 100-paper Gannet chain, and will run in at least one more paper this coming weekend. More on that here:

A newspaper in New Jersey wants a local person to include in his story about brokeback and this forum.

The reporter is especially interested in a straight woman obsessed by the film--from New Jersey.

You can email him directly at robaxter@camden.gannett.com

His name is Robert Baxter.

Thanks.

Dave,

Congrats on the recognition! Of course, you know this forum is going to get bigger and crazier once the Oscar noms come out, right?  Grin

A big 'muchas gracias!' for creating a place where everyone touched by this magnificent film can come together in a spirit of community, friendship, love and support.

Congrats!

Nikki Battiste, a producer for the Tyra Banks show just contacted me. They are looking for some real life gay cowboys to feature on the show, and they are taping this Friday at CBS Studios in LA.

If you are or were a gay cowboy, and might be interested in appearing on national TV discussing it, they would love to talk to you. (Of course they'll fly you out, put you up, etc. --- I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.)[/b]

She also said she would be interested in former gay cowboys. They are taping in three-and-a-half days, so finding people ASAP is the priority.

(If you don't know Tyra Banks, she was a supermodel, hosted America's Next Top Model the past several seasons, and now has her own nationally syndicated talk show.)

Or if you know any gay cowboys, or have spotted one on the threads, please give them/us a heads up. I'm sure we have had some. I could swear I've come across some, but God knows I can't place any of the names.

You can contact her directly, and/or discuss it with any of the mods or me if you're at all apprehensive about it. (I just spoke with Nikki and she's great.)

Her contact info:

Nikki Battiste
323.575.8336
nikki.battiste@tyratv.com

(Her phone rolls to her cell afterhours, so you don't have to call 9-5. I just got her email at 10 p.m. my time and chatted with her just now. Just don't call her in the middle of the night.)

The show will probably air in February, sometime before the Oscars. We'll let you know once they firm that up.

I recommend that whomever is considering contacting Nikki, that they might want to watch a few episodes of Tyra's show.  It isn't the most intellectual program out there.  Just a suggestion.   Wink

I have absolutely no idea who Tyra Banks is

Never heard of her till now

Am I missing anything important?

What Jack remembered and craved in a way he could neither help nor understand was the time that distant summer on Brokeback when Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.
