BB :  Ian is almost like a shivering chihuhua at times. His facial expressions are totally uncensored, and can be very much a mournful puppy.  But, puppies can bite, too.

Boogie is a self-centered, wealthy owner of restaurants. And reptilian.  Dan is a high school coach.  Both won their seasons, but Boogie because people like a villain; Dan, because he's fairly inept at being ruthless.
Janelle is my baby - and the nicest people liked her and allied with her.  She won more comps than anyone, ever, too.  Britney has toned it down, this go-round, but she was a spoiled, hateful, creepy, sweet-smiling witch, on her season.  The CBS forum was ended over the disputes over her.
BB can be, IMO, a rorshacht (sp?) test as to what the viewer is himself/herself.

The producers have a huge problem, though.  The further the evictions go, past floaters, the less star-power they have.
Also, "back-dooring" refers to the method of not nominating the intended target, waiting for POV to be won, and then putting the real target up, who is then helpless.  That is what they tried to do with Frank.

Thanks for the definition of back-dooring. My problem is everyone still relying on the coaches for advice when the coaches are now the competition. How stupid can you be? When it gets down to the 4 coaches and no one else, maybe it will get interesting, but some other show will have started by then... this is AUGUST for pete's sake... and I'll be watching Once Upon a Time or whatever else is on.

Oh, and I missed the entire first half of the show because it is on WJHL (Lyle's favorite TN channel) and their weather department took over the airwaves at 7:50 to tell everyone that it was raining and flooding was taking place in Johnson City. To be fair, it rained 3-1/2 inches in under an hour and JC has ALWAYS had a problem with flooding in the downtown area because of poor drainage. But also to be fair, they were on 40 minutes... and I was watching the clock... showing the same graphics, the same videos of cars driving through water up over their towns (intoning "Don't drown. Turn around." every time,) the same viewer submitted photos of flooded roads and yards and streams and parking lots and repeating the same "information" ("heavy rain and flash floods in the area, do not go out if you do not have to, if you need assistance call 911, send your photos to pix@wjhl.com") as if it was either the Second Coming or race weekend.

Doodler, they always replay a recap, each show, so you won't miss much, on BB.  But, yes, it will go into September.  There'll be double evictions, to speed it up.  Only thing I can say is, from the live feed transcripts, am very disappointed, and may be sorry I got into this season.  I can't deal with Britney.
[Sorry about the weather in Johnson City.  Looked it up on a map.  You are right near to the area where my apparently also agoraphobic family still remains, after 300 years, and fails to reproduce.  That would be North Wilkesboro, N.C., where they are all cousins, except for the wandering Latino. Some have ventured a few hundred miles.  They're ok  Smiley.]

Don't know about Wilkesboro. Never heard anything about it so it may not be part of my "iewing area" which seems to be huge. A lot of people HERE are from elsewhere. Damned Yankees, like me.

Pouring rain again today. My son is headed for Johnson City to check on his new club. It didn't get flooded last night but it's really coming down now. Lots of money already spent on renovations. If it gets flooded... well, not good.

I once spent the night in Johnson City, TN, when I hiked the Appalachian Trail.

It was April 1995 on the day of the Oklahoma City bombing.

My hiking companions, two guys I met on the Trail, and I were glued to the TV, where for eight hours, the newscaster identified the bombed structure only as the "Alfred Murrah Building" without ever mentioning that the building was in Oklahoma City.  I don't think we found out it was in Oklahoma City for another week or so.

That was before I moved up here. I'm not much into local news... we're fairly  low crime and JC is about 30 miles from me. WJHL is more likely to report what's going on in Boone NC than here in Kingsport. BUT I normally prefer their reporting of the weather as they don't tend to get too excited. Last night was an exception... the other local network stations weren't even running scrolls and WJHL was hogging the air. I must not have been the only one objecting 'cause when they interrupted again around 10, they started with an apology and the statement it was going to be a "quick update" which it was.

Big Brother : Apologia pro suae whackibus.
I never knew how false people could be.  The other reality shows have that, but not in so much depth.  How I survived all these years, unaware, I do not know.  But with BB, I am finally less clueless about what masks come off when someone leaves the room.  And how people size each other up to see if they have shared ethical defects.
These show up very strongly, if you follow the live-feed transcripts, which I do.  Dan, one of the houseguests, said he was always amazed, when he got out of the house, to see the editing.  BB, without live-feed transcripts, is just a disorganized version of Survivor.  That's my apologia, for the sake of the others on this thread (although the many guests to the forum would maybe not be so bothered).
Anyway, I can't say what is on the live feeds, but I can say this:  fiends !!!!!

I think a lot of people are willing to accept those they come in contact with at face value. With society as evolved as it is (and let's just accept that statement as fact) most people don't put much effort in to discerning what is actually going on around them. A lot of practice goes into developing "gut instincts" and the majority just aren't interested. It is seldom worth your life if you can't tell a liar from a fibber from an embellisher. Being able to read people is important on these tv shows where the time from onset to prize is limited and intense, but in real life, it is often years before someone's perfidy affects you. For me, sitting around with a group of people, listening to their tales and promises and agreeing to go along seems pretty tame just as jumping all over someone as soon as door closes behind him/her is unremarkable. My objection to BB is not that they are all liars but that they are so bad at it and undecided what to lie about and to whom.

What a hoot! You will go to any extreme to make a point. And guess what. Johnson City is just 30 miles away.

Now if I could just move the mountain out of the way....
