That was nice of him. He does come across as being nice when he gets interviewed.

The chuckle of the night comes from NCIS
Director Vance to Gibbs: "You two know each other? Oh please tell me you were not married!"

Great article, Gary! Some of the actors really look a lot different out of their characters on Downton Abbey and some look the same. A couple of them I would not have recognized.

The River
do not like the shaky camera
and do not like the supposedly "interrupted" camera whenever something weird is going to happen.
Other than that, still going to be on the water with the crew next Tuesday.

Last night was a banner tv night for me.  First, TNT's Southland.  Some grins, as always - including totally bad-taste guy-type practical jokes; and some really moving scenes with closeted gay Cooper, who after twenty-plus years as a cop is getting closer and closer to coming out, or being forced out.  And then Jon Stewart's Daily Show guest was Ricky Gervais, and the conversation got bawdier and goofier by the minute.

I generally feel lucky if there's even one program I think is genuinely good (as opposed to merely diverting, which is okay but pretty much like leafing through a magazine in a waiting room because there's nothing better to do).  Two is like being given a gift.

Grimm troubles.   I noticed officer Wu wasn't in the last episode.  But there are two Asian-American guys in the promos for the new series Awake, and one of them looks suspiciously like the guy who plays Wu.  Has he jumped ship?  I guess we have to wait and see.

And tonight, wicked conflicts, possibly.  Zap2It's description of a Grimm repeat seems like one I missed.  If so, it's up against The Mentalist.  And, BTW, Simon Baker, an Aussie playing an American, is increasingly confronting characters with non-American accents:  Low Aussie, and low Irish (low, meaning thick, gangster).
What to do? What to do?

Since I've already seen Grimm, I'm watching The Mentalist and the Queen V is the guest star. I'm surprised she isn't in more shows.

Solitaire?

 Never got into that.

As a last resort, I always have DVDs, books, and awesomely long convos on the telephone.  Or, I could swing naked from the chandeliers, with a wine bottle.  Oops.  No chandeliers anymore, and, alas, I don't drink.

It was a repeat.  Did The Mentalist.  And that particular antiseptic female, on tonight, BTW, has all the sex appeal of a faux Corinthian column.

i don't think there is any suggestion that cooper's orientation is a secret, at least to those who count.  tang kind of suggests as much when she indicated word was he would not be a harassment problem.  i think the suggestion is that cooper would rather not ever have it come up as an issue.  it is not in his nature, nor would it be good on the streets for him to be "out and proud" flying the flag, so  to speak.  also, he is of a generation that simply didn't discuss such private matters.  in 3 seasons we have never seen him attempt to create a "beard" real or imaginary.  i think at some point we will find out just how widespread is his orientation, but i think he is out to his unit and his boss.

CURSE YOU history channel! i just got caught channel surfing on FULL METAL JOUSTING.  even though i know its a concept program designed to appeal to certain demographics, i found it appealing nonetheless.  there's something about guys trying to out macho each other, in ancient ways in this case, that is ever fascinating.  maybe its the testosterone.
