i watched TOUCH last night, while watching 2 other shows simultaneously.  touch won hands down.  it was extremely complicated and require the audience to really pay attention to even the briefest of encounters seemingly unrelated in order to make sense as their actions have effects that most are not aware of.  the complexity that makes it such an exercise in storytelling and viewer participation and really first rate view is as much the problem as it is the the hook.

i'm not sure the greater american public has that kind of attention span.  i intend to rewatch this premiere episode again when i am not distracted.  the acting was first rate, by the way, with kiefer sutherland is magnificent as a loving father with a lot of issues to juggle and mental bridges to cross to connect meaningfully with his seemingly autistic, non verbal 11 year old son, equally well acted.

This was the repeat of the pilot and I intended to watch again because, as you say, it's complicated. However, someone called and distracted me. There were so many things... plot lines... at one time I hope they are spelled out again in future episodes.

like i said, demanding viewing.  it did manage a few quite touching moments, though, and ended with a cliffhanger of sorts.

The retro ME-TV channel had a special program last night,
instead of the "wearin' of the green" for St. Patrick's Day,
they had the "Airin' of the Green--Hornet."

They had a mini-marathon of 8 episodes of THE GREEN HORNET,
a show that was on only one season, from 1966-67, but has
lived on in infamy, due to it's comic book origins and more
infamously, due to Bruce Lee playing Kato.  I have not seen
an episode of that since it originally aired back then (and not
in color, since we didn't have a color tv) so I was quite interested
in re-visiting it.  I was out last night, so I had to tape it, but I saw
two of the episodes last night and was quite entertained.  The
lead actor in it, Van WIlliams, was quite the looker.  I had not
realized, but it makes sense, that the producer of the series
was also the producer of the Batman series which aired at that
time.  The Batman announcer is also the same in The Green Hornet.
Al Hirt played the theme song which features a trumpet solo and
is based on "Fllight of the Bumblebee".  (They were doing trivia
in between episodes.)

I know that both The Green Hornet, and especially Batman, are two
of the most requested tv series to be brought out on dvd, but that there
are huge complications due to the rights that various entities lay claim to.
These rights issues don't seem to apply with the actual airing of them on
broadcast television, fortunately, but it is rare and are probably edited a
bit as well.  (Although I know that many shows that are originally 50-51
minutes are imperceptibly sped up a bit, so that they air complete in a 46-47
minute complete episode.  It's supposedly not noticeable to the average
viewer, but it doesn't sound optimal, does it?

In any case, it's amusing to revisit things sometimes.

Trivia Question:

"In what Ang Lee film are two of the characters
watching an episode of THE GREEN HORNET?"

Tonight is the season finale of The Walking Dead.

The band of suriviors of the zombie apocolypse continues to grow and shrink.

The original group of survivors has teamed up with other suvivors living off a highway in a farmhouse.  However, deaths cause the group to shrink.

Sofia (original group) dies of a zombie bite and is shot by group leader Rick, in front of young Sofia's mother.

Otis (farmhouse) goes out for supplies with Shane and persued by zombies.  Shane shoots Otis in the knee and leaves him at the mercy of a zombie hoard so he can escape.

Dale (original group) is shot after having his stomach ripped open by a zombie.

Randall (drifter) neck broken by Shane.  Shane has snapped and uses this to lure Rick out into the woods to kill him.

Shane (original group) is stabbed to death by Rick before Shane can kill him.  When Shane reanimates, he is shot by Rick's young son, Carl.

Tonight's episode will be a battle, as a hoarde of zombies in the woods has heard the shot Carl used to put Shane down, and are headed towards the farmhouse.

So, shooting a zombie kills it? (Not on The River.) Or is it shooting someone who has been biten by a zombie will kill it? And then what? It DOESN'T become a zombie? I don't know much about zombies... or vampires, etc.

The Voice and Smash tonight.  My cup runneth over  Smiley.

Harry's Law, last night, seemed to be borrowing from Grimm, on one sub-plot; the others not too bad. The Good Wife keeps going with great writers, but is always worth it just for the hot, lesbian or bisexual private detective.  Why I blank out her name all the time, I don't know.  Attraction AND fear  Cheesy.....

First word starts with N and second word with an A.  Does that help?

I wasn't as excited about tonights The Voice.  None of the singers really caught my attention.  I still really like the show!

To kill a zombie, you deactivate the brain....so either a shot to the head, or chop the head off.  Technically the head would still be alive, but with no body, it's not a  threat.

tough night for me, but at least i managed to be awake in prime time.  dancing season has begun.  i did a bit of channel hopping, but none of the chosen particularly excites me either, and i witnessed cee lo pick the shrieking girl over the brothers, who finally actually carried a tune and was VERY disappointed in him.  she was gawdawful, and a princess to boot.

more on dwts elsewhere.

Thanks. But perhaps, deactiating the brain might also be accomplished by making the zombie watch current tv comedies?

And yet the networks are airing some new ones starting next month... Bent, the B in Apartment whatever, and another one or two. And of course, I'll give them ONE look. Which is pretty much the same chance I give dramas. It would be so nice to find one, just one, funny show to watch each week.
