hey guys, if you want to show the characters that have to be placed before and after soemthing to change it's appearance, the best is to simply add a blank character and add that they have to be written without the blank.

like: to italize something, ad [i ] before and [/i ] after (without the blanks after the i).

Thanks, that was driving both of us crazy last night.

How do I create a hyperlink again? Haven't done it in months.

Thanx.

Hey Gonzo --

Depends on what you want to link to.  If a webpage - then copy the link out of the address bar on the page you want to link to.  Paste that, highlight and click the insert hyper-link button above.  (or just type in   before and after your link -- removing the spaces between the brackets)

If you want to link to a specific forum post, then right click on the little newspaper looking icon at the top of the post you want to link to, and slect "Copy Shortcut", then paste and proceed as usual.

This is embarrassing, but after getting my courage up to make my first post ever, I find I really do not know how to do it. Does one use the "reply" to do that, or is that meant for a response to a specific post?
I wonder if anyone could tell me where I could write to Heath and Jake. I would really appreciate any help with that.
Thanks in advance.

Reply originates a new message.  You did that correctly.  If you want to reply to a specific post, like I have done to yours, click the quote button associated with that post.  In addition you can modify or delete posts that you make yourself by clicking the buttons in any message you create.

Go to the sandbox and practice posting if you want.  Click below.

When I first found this website (Dec. '05, I believe), the boards were in a different format.  Just wondering if those old posts are still around somewhere and I'm just not seeing them.  Guess I'm a little nostalgic for some of the things I read back when the movie first came out and would like to re-read some of that material.  Is it available?  Thanks in advance.  dlc

Hey dlc --

I'm not positive, and I'll verify this, but I don't think any old posts have been deleted since this forum went live on/about 12/24/05.  Underneath each board are one or more "Archive" board where topics get retired to when they seem to have outlived their prime.  For instance, the board for: "Other archived threads for The Impact" can be found here:  http://davecullen.com/forum/index.php?board=41.0

OR -- are you talking about prior to when this forum went live, and back in the days when it was just comments upon Dave's blog??  I beleive those comment thread archives exist... but couldn't find them.  I'll go inquire, but could you confirm which 'old posts' you were looking for?

Thanks

Thanks for the response.  I'm referring to prior to when this forum went live 12/24/05.   If I remember correctly (it's been so long, I'm having trouble remembering), there was no particular format -- it was just a thread of comments.  Or several threads; it seems to me they would overrun one thread and have to start another.   There were pages and pages of comments with no organization by topic like there is now, as I recall.

Well, if you are really patient you can go back and look at the salon blog from back then, here's the link to the first one:
 http://rcs.salon.com/rcsComments/comments?u=1137&p=1685&link=http%3A%2F%2Fblogs.salon.com%2F0001137%2F2005%2F09%2F25.html%23a1685

- it's a lot to wade through as you said since it was one thread.  When one filled another was started.
