Well, that's nice to know.  Your wink came through just fine.  Maybe you should pm some of the admin to see if they can do something about it.  My emoticons show up but no action.  They just "sit" there.  It might be a glitch in either of our computers and not in the system.  Who knows?

HI Nikki -

The only way I know to get rid of those format commands is when you are in the reply box (where you can see all the raw formatting) you can just put your cursor where you need it and delete those formatting marks as if they were regular text.

If anybody knows a better way, speak up, but I have found if we push the "format" buttons more than once, weird things happen, so the only remedy is to start over or format manually.

Hope that helps!

you can't attach anything that's not hosted somewhere else. the easiest option is opening a photobucket account (www.photobucket.com), uploading your pics there and then linking them in your post.

linking:
you press the "insert image" button (middle row, first one on the left side), [img ] [ /img] appears i your post. now you copy the adress of the pic in your photobucket account and paste it between the two [img] tags.
it will look somewhat like this: [img ]http://www.photobucket.com/.....[/ img]

then the image will display in your post !

I got a question: How do I unsubscribe to a thread?

A certain sunflower bearing person (I'm not naming names but it starts with a 'd' and ends with a 't' and its got 'esertra' in the middle) dragged me into the Auntie's Diner a while ago but those diners are way too fast for me. However, it keeps on showing up on my New Replies.
Grin

How do I do that?
Thank you.

Vic

And btw, am I now forever subscribed to this one?

Vic,

To unsubscribe simply do the same thing you did to subscribe.  Click the notify button.  The message box will ask you if you wish to disable the function and you can click the "ok" button.  That should do it.

Thanks, TwistedBoy, but I tried that. It didn't do it for me.
Instead I now get an email each time I go there and it then gets updated...
 Sad Undecided

And, if I remember correctly, I didn't subscribe in the first place. Apparently you automatically get notified/subscribed once you post something?

vic - did you check your profile ? is the Turn notification on when you post or reply to a topic. box ticked "on" ? i have no exporeience with the mail notification since that's all turned off for me...i'm having enough pm's already, having one for every post would blow this forum up i guess  Cheesy

so - the diner is too fast for you ? have you ever tried chatting ? a group chat is a challenge even for me... Wink
pity you don't manage joining us more often...it's fun there (even though it's not proven yet whether it doesn't cause epilepsy and stress symptoms  Grin)...

<checking>

No, I think that's all okay. Got the first two boxes ticked, not the third.
And on the bottom in the summary it also confirms that I have no notifications turned on.

Oh well, it's not that important. If there had been a quick way, fine. But don't spend time on it.
I thought about installing forum software on my own web site at one time, and didn't... glad about that decision!

Regarding Auntie's Diner:
Oddly, I'm used to live chat! And I'll admit, since I'm notified constantly, I do lurk there.
 Grin

Thanks desertrat and TwistedBoy, no worries.

Vic, yes, once you post in a thread, you automatically receive notice under updated posts.  If you do not wish to look at a group of threads, you may delete them by the  blue button "mark as read".  You must do this every time you get a new notice, but at least they go away temporarily.  I do this with threads that I posted in once, but have no desire to revisit.

Even after hanging around here for a few weeks now, I still haven't been able to figure something out.  The Daily Sheet brought it up for me again today, so I'm finally going to ask.

What exactly is the "Slash Thread" anyway?  I mean, my folks, they was Methodist.   Wink

tru,

Slash is any kind of fiction (prose or poetry) that is written by fans and is based on fictional characters by another author/artist.  There are all permutations of the stuff.  Some follows the original story line.  Some just use the characters and continues on very different paths but keeping the characters and personalities.  Slash can be based on film or written characters.  The characters can be lifted out of their original context and placed in totally new environs but usually keeping their personalities intact.  Slash really fills a genuine need for people who identify with these characters to continue the story or resolve issues they have with the original stories.  The end of BBM left so many of us distraught that the slashers are working overtime and with great results.  Some slashers just want the good times to never end and do their part to make sure that happens.

Okay slashinistas, how'd I do?  I just wanted to respond quickly and am not a slasher.  Please add anything or correct anything I may have incorrectly stated.  Thanks.
