Okay, I'm not new, but I have a question.
I've just changed the original email address that I first used to
register on the forum.

Obviously, I'm concerned that PM emails forwarded to me by posters
will now NOT reach me.

Is there a way to change my original email address?
AND retain my current member name and info?

OR will I just have to re-register with a new name?

I mean, I'll do it if that's the only way.  Wink

Rosewood:

You can change your email address anytime and keep your username.

You will have to 're-activate' your account.
An email will be sent to your new address, same as when you first registered.

If you have any problems, email me at  john@davecullen.com

Hi there.  I'm trying to fancy-up my posts and was wondering if someone could tell me how to insert a hyperlink that uses a word/phrase instead of the actual web address.

Up until now, I've just been copying the web address into my post, highlighting it, then clicking the "Insert Hyperlink" button that puts the http:// around the address. Some people use a word or phrase instead, though, to create the link.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi Lucy!

Sure - Embedded links are easy.  Usually url tags are used as such:

Code:
[url]http://www.msn.com[/url]
http://www.msn.com

To embed the address within the tag and use a phrase as your link, just move the http:// part inside the first url tag after an "=" sign:

Code:
[url=http://www.msn.com]Really Cool Article Here[/url]
Really Cool Article Here

Have fun!

Hello, I have a couple of questions.

In the Profile page for each member, under "Posts", the total number of posts by that member is displayed and in brackets the number of posts per day.
How is that calculated? I thought it would be more logical for the software to calculate them based on the amount of time that member has been logged in the forum (shown in the User Info section in blue, at the top left hand corner of the page), but I think - if I'm not mistaken - that it's calculated based on the time passed since the member registered, no matter how long they've been logged in the forum.
For example, in my case, today my profile shows I have 146 posts, 0.437 per day. But considering since I registered I have been logged in 19 days, if I divide 146 (posts) by 19 (days) it would give me 7.6 posts per day, not 0.437.

In the Index of the boards, where all the threads are listed, there are two columns to the left of the Subject column, one with various symbols (red/blue etc.) that are explained at the bottom of the page (normal topic, hot topic, etc.)... but what does "sticky topic" mean?

And what does the symbol in the second column mean? It looks like the pages of a book...

Thanks v. much in advance.  Smiley

Hi freetraveller - You're correct about the average posts per day being based on the number of days a member has been registered, not the amount of time actually logged in.

'Sticky' is a placeholder - keeps the thread 'stuck' in position so it doesn't move down the page.  It's useful for important topics or notices.

The other symbol [pages of a book] is referred to as 'standard'.  It's a message icon.  Others include an exclamation point, thumb up, thumb down, etc.  Those are selected by thread authors.

Hope this helps explain the 'sign language' for you.
