no puppies to come here either  Undecided
had the ultrasound yesterday and although she seemed pregnant, nothing to see. still small possibility that we were to early,if i count from the last insemination it was 27 days,so with one or two pups, maybe to early. so have a free ultrasound if i want in 2 weeks.
but she still loosed sometimes some almost white fluid, and am not sure if its still infection or not.
it looks white when on her, but on a white tissue its a bit more yellow.
gonna inform the vet today.

Oh, damn. Sorry to hear that, Conny.

Most of my girls, when pregnant, will have a CLEAR discharge. Anything colored is suspect, in my opinion.

I know the usual time for ultrasound is 28-35 days from first breeding, but there's a vet here who has improved his reading ability so he can tell at 21. He used to have his clients come in before 28 days (and pay for that ultrasound) and then have them come back in the 28-35 day range for a free ultrasound. He kept dropping the time of the first reading and the earliest he has accurately and consistently seen fetuses is 18 days, but he's most comfortable with 21 (especially with small dogs.)

I've pretty much decided to NOT take Em in for an ultrsound... she either is or she ain't so I'll wait... and save the dinero.

Conny, they are so beautiful, they take my breath away!

In the picture of the two together... Imala is in the back? She is smaller than Aylan?
The second one looks to me to MAYBE,  have a little poochi-ness. But it could easily be just hair and shadow.

Damn, they are gorgeous!

Mass. couple dies trying to rescue dog from lake

Associated PressAssociated Press – 23 hrs ago

WESTFIELD, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts couple boating on a lake drowned after jumping into the water to rescue their dog, who survived.

Police say the small dog named Sadie jumped into Hampton Ponds in Westfield on Monday night, prompting 64-year-old Donald Cyr to follow his pet into the lake.

Police told The Westfield News that he became distressed and his wife, 61-year-old Patricia Cyr, tried to rescue him.

Their daughter, Miranda Landry, told The Boston Globe that her mother jumped into the water despite not being able to swim.

"It doesn't surprise me at all," Landry said. "I know that's what she would do."

Other boaters, alerted by screams, helped pull the couple from the water. Efforts by rescue personnel failed to revive them, and both were pronounced dead at hospitals.

The dog survived and was taken to the municipal animal shelter. The couple received the West Highland white terrier as a gift from Daniel Cyr's sister six weeks ago to replace a beloved dog that died a year ago, Landry and a neighbor told The Globe.

The dog will be returned to Daniel Cyr's sister, Landry said, adding that she couldn't take the dog in herself because it would be too painful to have the pet around.

The Cyrs were a devoted couple of 40 years, and "they couldn't survive without each other," said Landry, the youngest of the couple's three children.

The deaths remain under investigation.

the poochiness is what i see too for 2 weeks now,so thats also why i`m still unsure.
so we just wait for possible more changes or the second ultrasound.

yesterday saw a gorgeous almost white goldendoodle here on the beach, 7 ,months old male, he was so sweet and shy.lovely soft fur.

JD is really having a lot of pain in her hind leg, with the ACL tear.  She's been doing good but yesterday starting limping a little, so I started her on her pain meds.  She was bad this morning but still went outside; when I came home at lunch she only came out of the bathroom for a minute (for a snack, that I would gladly have taken to her), she wouldn't even go out to pee.  I tried to give her another pain pill at lunch but she spit it out of a dogfood sandwich, they must taste really bad.

She did go out when I got home from work, but she's keeping her foot off the ground entirely.  I wish I could do something more for her, besides giving her tummy rubs...

But I'll make sure she gets her meds with dinner.

eta: she took both pills  Smiley

Alright, why are you not shoving the pill/capsule down her throat? What's with this hide it in the cheese/hot dog/whatever stuff?

And second, she's been dealing with this for quite a while. Have you ever discussed amputation with the vet? Three legged dogs get around just fine, often better than with four legs when one is gimpy.

i shove them down her throat if i can't get them down any other way, she took 2 with dog food tonight.

she's not at the amputation stage, she's rarely in so much pain that she limps like this...in any case, any kind of surgery is out of the question, it's not in the budget.  I'll do what I can for her as long as I can, and I'll never let her suffer.

Amputations are usually very reasonably priced compared to other surgeries, but I do understand about the budget business. I cancelled Em's ultrasound next week for just that reason. I figure I'll just sit back and wait another 2 weeks and be able to tell b y looking at her if she's pregnant or not. She doesn't charge when I look at her!

Nancy, try getting the pill in her mouth, holding her mouth closed, and stroking the bottom of her throat.  Might take time, but usually works.

It's really hard to tell without hands on examination.

Hang in there!
