These are the boats docked at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the cave.

A few detail shots but the cave was literally covered in statues where ever there was a flat, or semi-flat, or niche in the floor, wall, rock, etc.  It was very cool to see.

I tried to not take many pictures of the monks because 1. I already have a bunch form other places and 2. they do ask you to be respectful of them and not get in their faces with your camera.  But luckily I have a long lens on my camera so I did take a few of them from farther away.  Here is one.  That orange robe is so iconic.  Although I have noticed, the color is different in other countries.  (For example, in Myanmar it was more of a maroon red.)

The size of his knife worried me just a little but he seemed so focused with it.  LOL

The weirdest thing happened as we were driving out to the waterfall.  We started noticing these small white butterflies flying along the road in the opposite direction.  At first our tour guide said they were looking for moisture as it was the end of the dry season.  But they kept coming.  Lines and lines of small white butterflies, flocking like birds, constantly going in the same direction, sometimes in a solid line, one following the other.  They just kept coming for over 20 minutes as we drive along the road.  Finally our driver stopped so we could get out to take a few pictures.  Even our guide finally said he had never seen anything like it.

Even when we finally got to the waterfall grounds they were flying through the jungle.  Always in the same direction.  Honestly, I finally said, "Well, either this is a good omen or the world will end tomorrow."  It started freaking me out a little.

As I mentioned, it was Laos New Year.  They celebrate by throwing water on everyone.  Here are a few shots of people celebrating.  In this picture we are inside our van, with all the windows closed!
