so wonderful.  who paints them?  do they belong to private families or an organization or corporation?

Private, I think - there's obviously competition as to who can be the most artistic!

Wonderful, beautiful pictures, Beth that capture the character of the country.

This is my second favorite!

These lights were hanging in the trees off the branches over the water.  Loved it!

This is my first favorite. Bright lights surrounded by dark!

This is his mausoleum.  We were going to go in but the line was so long we skipped it.  Went straight to the museum instead.  It was perspective-changing to visit the Ho Chi Minh museum and read about The American War.  One item I found especially interesting in the museum was the lack of English translations for the various exhibits.  (Vietnamese only)  We wondered if it was a sign of the age of the museum and it hadn't been updated since the country opened to tourism, or if it was a statement by the Vietnam Government.  Maybe a little of both?

Several pictures now from the Temple of Confucius, aka the Temple of Literature, established in 1070.

We happened to be there the day these young women were graduating.  They were all dressed up in their finest.

It was funny though because the official photographer for the graduation, the guy in black in the middle of the picture, was having the hardest time getting his photos because all us tourists were scrambling to get our photos and we were always in his way!  Poor guy!   Cheesy
