We went to the historical museum and found these hammock holders from the 13th/14th century!

More buildings.  That poor short one looks very squished!

These people are at a funeral.  Our guide told us that when a person dies, they are buried for several years.  Then their bones are dug up and cremated, put into a bone jar and laid to rest for eternity in their proper burial spot in the fields.  So these people are re-bury the bones (ashes) into its final resting spot.

And here are some of those final resting tombs in the rice fields as we traveled outside the city.

The rest of the pictures are from a place called Tam Coc town, also known as Halong on Land (referring to Halong Bay, a UNESCO heritage spot).  Tam Coc is inland while Halong Bay is on the coast.  The day we went it was overcast but the place was still very picturesque.  Our itinerary said we would do this boat ride after lunch but our guide said we would do it at lunchtime.  Once we got back we understood why.  When we went there was no one, or very few, other people out on the river.  When we came back the place was teeming with all the people who were eating lunch while we were on the water and those people had lots and lots of other boats on the water all at the same time.  Our boat ride was so nice and quiet and peaceful.  We were so glad our guide made us switch our time!

These are all the boats waiting for customers.

What makes the place scenic is the limestone peaks.  Our guide said they quarry so much limestone here that some of these limestone mountains are literally ground down to nothing and disappear.  It made for a lot of air pollution until recently they started putting in place some regulations.
