Cheesy

Actually the temperature varied between stiflingly hot, with not v efficient a/c, and so cold some nights that we needed a microwave hot water bottle (Pic to follow!)

Right.

Looking forward!

oh, these are marvelous.  how did they do this?  i'd love to make some easter eggs like this.

I have no idea about their procedure. But the result is stunning indeed. When I was a child, I loved to make easter eggs with my grandma.

oh i completely fell in love with luang prabang!  we did not go to the capital at all, vientiane, but LP was amazing.  simple, relaxed, rustic but not primitive.  they still had wifi and all the modern conveniences (at least in regards to utilities).  the people were friendly.  the food was great, both the laos food and the western restaurants.  because it is a UNESCO site it can not become over-developed or they lose their UNESCO standing.  and it is "the spring from which we drink" as our local guides told us. (because it brings in the tourists.)  i kept saying i could live there.  when i retire it will be very tempting.  it is a communist country but a very relaxed communism.  they have a very strong buddhist tradition there that is still practiced. obviously we only skimmed the surface and actually living there would be different but our guide said several americans and other westerners have moved there and live there now.  i really loved it!   pictures in a bit.

oh, my!  seriously?!  does this happen in vienna every year at easter time?  i need to see this!  is it an egg decorating competition or... how does it happen?

no, this happens every year - it's one of the several easter markets in Vienna at the time before easter. you should make the trip over here - i'd be happy to be your tourist guide!  Smiley

Some more Australian photos.  After a week on our own in W Aus we flew to Melbourne and stayed near our daughter on the Mornington Peninsula.  It was February, perfect weather most of the time. This was a holiday cottage on a hillside - lovely and peaceful, looking out over grass and trees. Smaller than it looks - just one floor with large bed-sitter/kitchen, and a bathroom and second bedroom where our twin grandsons came for a couple of sleepovers (big excitement).

What a lovely cottage!!!
