Sherry, am sure the spider mutants are part of the phenomenon of Portland's allegedly fictional woes, showing up as more....there?

But, I will have to puzzle that one out later, as we have gone into another dimension of the very strange, and one that requires immediate attention from all of us.  Yahoo news is reporting the recall of 2.3 million exploding toilets, or better said, tending to explode.  The Brand name is Flushmate.  There have already been many reports of injuries, and probably even more of..... awkward moments.
I haven't checked mine yet, but this has a higher priority, at the moment, than Oregon critters since I am on the East Coast.  We are dealing, every day, with someone else's script for a very weird world.

The U.S. Navy's oldest commissioned warship will sail under its own power for just the second time in more than a century to commemorate the battle that won it the nickname "Old Ironsides."

The USS Constitution, which was first launched in 1797, will be tugged from its berth in Boston Harbor on Sunday to the main deepwater pathway into the harbor. It will then set out to open seas for a 10-minute cruise.

The short trip marks the day two centuries ago when the Constitution bested the British frigate HMS Guerriere in a fierce battle during the War of 1812. It follows a three-year restoration project and is the first time the Constitution has been to sea on its own since its 200th birthday in 1997.

Before that, it hadn't sailed under its own power since 1881. The Constitution is periodically tugged into the harbor for historical display.

We saw the Constitution when we were in Boston. A fine old ship.
I wonder if HMS Victory would sail? Probably not.

I guess we never learn.  Alarm rings, we hit the snooze button.

When the USS Cole was heavily damaged by motorboats with bombs, everybody grieved the dead, waved tthe flag, and went back to sleep, about low-tech dangers.

Tony, you mentioned the 2000 bombing of the USS Cole -- Has anyone ever 'vetted' the official account?? The attack on the ship was blamed on "bin Laden," yet the FBI admits there's no hard evidence.
[1] -Was it yet another "Gulf of Tonkin" incident?

It was reported that then-US Ambassador to Yemen Barbara Bodine denied FBI investigator John O'Neill access to the crime scene or to the ship, nor would she allow his crew to dredge the harbor for evidence. Thanks to Ms. Bodine fifty of O'Neill's agents were not even allowed to fly into Yemen, from Germany -Investigation quashed. [2]

Now, just who has enough power to kill an official FBI investigation??

Rage Against the Machine's guitarist Tom Morello is a bit less than euphoric about Eddie Munster mentioning them as a favorite band:

" I clearly see that Ryan has a whole lotta 'rage' in him: A rage against women, a rage against immigrants, a rage against workers, a rage against gays, a rage against the poor, a rage against the environment. Basically the only thing he's not raging against is the privileged elite he's groveling in front of for campaign contributions.

"You see, the super rich must rationalize having more than they could ever spend while millions of children in the U.S. go to bed hungry every night. So, when they look themselves in the mirror, they convince themselves that 'Those people are undeserving. They're . . . lesser.'  Some of these guys on the extreme right are more cynical than Paul Ryan, but he seems to really believe in this stuff. This unbridled rage against those who have the least is a cornerstone of the Romney-Ryan ticket."

Morello added that "Charles Manson loved the Beatles but didn't understand them. Governor Chris Christie loves Bruce Springsteen but doesn't understand him."

Ditto to all, tony.

kathy
p.s.  How did they even get in the church with that getup on anyway?

What I wonder is,

1. Was the punk rock group Pussy Riot aware that there would be consequences if they committed a sacrilege inside of a Russian cathedral?

2. Some of the articles say that the arrest and convictions of Pussy Riots' members dampens the freedom of speech of the Russian people..? -Considering all of the people who protested the proceedings, both outside and INSIDE the courtroom, that's apparently not the case.

...Now, just who in sam hell has enough power to stop an official FBI investigation??
Stan, in the 20th century, more power groups and ideology cells were born, IMO, than in all of human history, before. It's a subject I try not to think of, because it is endless. But they can inter-connect, can inflate and deflate in power, and can stay out of the news.
As for who can stop an FBI investigation, well, any number of power groups.  What is discouraging is that there are no whistleblowers, and the press is cowed.  Everybody in that world wants their retirement condo, and self-image, and so, are not legitimately worthy of the trust placed in them.
Sometimes, there may be a legitimate reason for suppressing facts.  But oversight and review  to confirm that are mostly gone.
Also, because of high technology, firewalls inside intelligence agencies, and old boy networks, sometimes even the Prez doesn't know.  Too much going on, is the simplest answer.

-I do soooo agree, Tony!

Speaking of whistle-blowers, at the risk of being accused of being a Romney supporter  Roll Eyes, I heard recently that the Obama regime took out another whistleblower, just recently..

One of Obama's campaign pledges was that he would work for more transparency, more openness in government, and to strengthen whistleblower protections.

Instead, the BHO contingent is working diligently to cripple or snuff out the whistleblowers.

Dammit - I've been trying over and over to figure out who Paul Ryan reminds me of, and this seems very close (although now I have to google it  Tongue ).
Either way, there's something odd about his lower jaw.  He has his teeth, but it looks like those who leave their dentures out.

No need to “google”.  Eddie/Butch, son of Yvonne, kidnapped by the CIA, rescued by the FBI, has been through Reno and Beverly Hills, should have gone to acting school that seems clear.  Still, someone said, “he’s sincere”, so he’s here.  At least he can say he's been there.

Hmm, yeah, you're right...

I was thinking it was misalignment between upper & lower jaw bones ("malocclusive") but looking at the pictures of him, I notice that he rarely shows teeth in photographs, and that he mostly grins with his thin lips.

+ His jutting chin makes the "missing dentures" effect even more pronounced....
