It's well-deserved for them, Kathy, and am sure you know I wasn't critical of any of your posts.  I was just bemused that you dropped them, and went into a very sedate mode, after which they re-appeared.....elsewhere  Cheesy.
This thread is fun, often because of these dinky/donky ways of the frequent posters who are in disagreement.  I considered the snatching of your emoticons dinky/donky, and good humor, in its own way.

Thank you, tony.  It's always good to hear your thoughts.
Yes, it is definitely well-deserved for them.

-I agree. Check the number of innocent lives  (1400+) Obama's drone program has claimed since 2009.
And Obama even has the cheek to JOKE about his killing program (shades of Bush's No WMDs under here. humor?)
As one of the guests on this morning's Up with Chris Hayes (MSNBC) program pointed out, in a segment entitled, "The Killing Program," Pres. Obama has "out-Cheney-ed Dick Cheney, when it comes to murdering innocent people."
As you might expect Mr. Hayes is catching flak from the 'Obama drones' for daring to "speak truth to power"...
- Whut? --AFAIK, Iran has not attacked, nor has it ever threatened to attack, any of its neighbors, in ages, if ever.
The only things "spreading" that I can see are US Gov't lies about Iran  since the Axis of Greed (US-UK-Israel) got booted out of Iran's oil fields, during the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

<opinion>
The "problem" with Iran is that, like Iraq, it just happens to be perched atop "American oil."

+If you'll check the PNAC documents, you'll find that Russia, China and Iran were long-ago selected as targets by oil-soaked, neocon pond scum, e.g., Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush, et.al.

</opinion>

Dear Stan:

I congratulate you on your remarks in this post and in post #1982.  I agree totally.

Stan, this is a tough one for me.  As far as who started the Iran/Iraq war, am not sure, except the U.S. sure fed the flames there.  But I do see the Iranians exporting the IEDs everywhere, and they are the main support for Assad's genocide.  And unlike Saddam Hussein's posturing, the Iranians really do want that nuclear capability, and, unlike Pakistan, they don't have the class structure that understands, at the top, how a nuclear war would back-fire.
Am no fan of Bibi Netanyahu, nor of the neo-cons, here.  But am more and more wary of the long-term danger of an Iran that would export nuclear bombs. It is, for me, serious enough to, this time, err on the side of prevention.  And yet, of course, we really need : more information.

Hi, Tony,
Contrary to popular belief in the West, point of fact, the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) does not want war of any kind with anybody. - In fact, the IRI Government has sued for peace with the West on a number of occasions, and in every instance these pleas have been largely ignored or rejected by the Axis of Greed' (US-UK-Israel) and its lackey media, particularly by the US, under Bush.

Iran -- like other small states that have already gone 'nuclear' -- is smart enough to recognize that some kind of nuclear deterrent is exactly what is needed in order to keep the 'Axis of Greed' out of her back yard.  But the IRI certainly does not want a "nuclear war" -- for one thing, the use of a weapon of mass destruction is forbidden under Islamic Law...

For another thing, the IRI understands that any nuclear aggression on their part would result in the immediate annihilation of their country (except for ther oil fields, of course), as Netanyahu and his Terror State would be compelled to retaliate with their unregistered and undeclared WMDs, and no doubt they would do so in the same fashion they do now with their 'conventional' weapons -- virtually indiscriminately.  (How many Arabs must die to avenge one Israeli? -The ratio used to be 14:1.)

By the same token, the IRI would never allow the export of any nuclear device to any 'terrorist' organization. (-The CIA might, however.)

Let me also remind that Iran is lawfully entitled to a peacetime nuclear program under the NNPT treaty.

Pres. Obama lied to the US and the world when he claimed that Iran was building "secret" nuclear facilities unannounced to the IAEA monitors. -Anyone who has read the NNPT knows that member states are NOT required to report new enrichment plants until six months prior to the scheduled date to go on line. -- Iran announces her new plants up to a FULL YEAR in advance. Why won't Obama tell the American People that Iran is in compliance with its obligations under the Treaty? Because it shows Iran in a positive light? Because he is trying to gin up another war?

To be fair I suppose it is possible that Pres. Obama "just didn't know' that Iran had already announced that plant when he was making his Big Announcement that "the US has caught Iran building a 'secret' nuke factory"..?! Ha.

I've seen illegals standing in line at markets and Heaven knows where else - not even U.S. citizens - and no way would I defend any of those who have been sticking it to the Gov't. for years and getting everything they want with their 'cards'.
My grandparents came over here and what did they get when they set foot here - nothing.  No handouts, no anything.  They had to take menial jobs just to get by to live.

Your grandparents hardly got "nothing." They got what generations of other people worked and fought to secure for US citizens, legal and illegal.  And they got it for free. Nobody's grandparents come here because they have it so good in their own countries. They come here to fix something in their lives, to get away from whatever it is that make things intolerable in their native lands. They come here so their children and grandchildren are free to rant and rave in public about every little thing they dislike about other people and how things are done and how poorly the government works. They come here because no matter how bad it is here, it's better than home. I don't know anybody who doesn't do some menial work at some time in their lives. It's part and parcle of getting to "the good life." It is what MAKES the good life good.

Hi, Kathy,
-Just trying to "keep it real" as the kids are fond of saying...

I hope I don't come off as an "Obama-hater" -- because I'm not... I just hate government corruption, is all, particularly in our own gov't.
--

Just watched George Clooney's film, Syriana, for the umpteenth time... I still tear up when I watch Mazhar Munir hug his father Goodbye, knowing it would be the last time as he goes off to avenge the deaths of his people by Big Oil and its CIA lackeys.

And, BTW, it finally dawned on me just how attractive Alex Siddig is:

Didn't he play in Star Trek, once?

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area on June 1st
is $4.27, which is 5.0 cents less than it was last Friday, according to Triple A.

It must be Obama's fault.  Cheesy Cheesy Its $3.49 in Minneapolis.

I have been without power all day today due to a large grass fire near my home that took out a an underground power facility, so the whole town has been without power for about 7 hours.

I have deleted a lot of snarky posts, so if anyone has any questions, just pm me. Thanks the majority of you for staying out of the fray.

I hope everything will be OK? 7 hours is quite a long time. Hopefully you get some rain in your area soon.

Thanks Tom. Yes they have it under control but are staying at the site because of the continued high winds.
SFO had 52 mph winds today. It is nuts.

Living up here where all the power, phone, cable lines are on poles, we're used to stuff being out for hours... or longer. I thought the whole point of putting things underground was they wouldn't be affected by surface conditions. It's hard to believe a simple grass fire could burn so deep that it took out a buried cable. Bummer, Linda. You and Tootsie stay safe.

The wind here is nuts though.

Apart from Native Americans, (and they probably came from Mongolia over the land bridge back in the mists of time) didn't everyone in the USA come from somewhere else?

Dear Linda, I do hope they have the power back on  for you now. You should have some of our rain from the South of England, we have a 1000 boat cavalcade on the Thames this afternoon to celebrate 60 years of Queen Elizabeth's reign, and at present it is chucking it down!

Oh brother...

Sounds like the jury spent more time deliberating wardrobe choices...

(CBS News) During jury deliberations in the John Edwards campaign finance corruption trial, one alternate juror was described by some reporters as having possibly been "flirting" with Edwards.

That's old news. This was pretty much a witch hunt to start with. Edwards offened people's sense of decency with the way he treated his wife when she was dying of cancer. Spouses do that all the time (right, Newt?) So the US tried to get even on her behalf, embarrassing the kids even more in the process.
