I don't know, I tend to agree with you in many ways, and God knows I like a drink so who am I to advise, but I have had at least two students who have had drug induced psychosis from smoking cannabis, and young people do have to be protected.
Our Safeguarding Officer at college seems to think that about two thirds of our students regularly smoke weed, and that would go along with my feelings and observations.

Two things... those same kids could have had a reaction to cough syrup or MSG, whatever. Allergic reactions can occur at any time to anything in anybody. Is there medical PROOF it was TO marijuana and not just FOLLOWING smoking it?

And if two students did have a reaction CAUSED by smoking weed, the rest of the two-thirds did not. Let's say there are 100 kids, two-thirds equals 67. Two is not even .33 percent (less than a third of one percent) of that. How many of those 100 kids will get sick... mentally or physically... or dead from other things?

One of the Australian articles said there were 50 deaths due to aspirin in whatever year and none due to weed.

Seems to me to be much ado about nothing.

This left me totally at a loss for words.

The "Daily Mail" (UK) today. And I quote:

"Husbands in Egypt could soon be legally allowed to have sex with the corpses of their wives - for up to six hours after death. The astonishing "Farwell Intercourse" law is said to be among measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament"

                                                               *****
The part that says " be legally allowed"......leads me to believe this has been happening already...but will be made legal.

I'm speechless.

Men must really be hard up in Egypt, but I doubt the dead women will mind.

To me ....it's like it's the final insult and don't let them give me all that shit about how much they loved them.

Nor when they are living either.

According to The Christian Science Monitor, the "sex after death" story began life in the opinion column of an Egyptian newspaper, placed there by an operative, Amr Samea, who is a supporter of Egypt's deposed president.  In the column Mr. Samea claims that Egypt is considering a proposal extending marriage to six hours past the death of the spouse, for legal purposes.

By the time story reached the English-language version of Al-Arabiya News, that proposal to extend marriage had been converted to a law permitting "sex after death."

Since the "necrophila law" disparages Muslims, and the Muslim Brotherhood in particular, naturally it was picked up by The Daily Mail and reported as fact.

Like the National Enquirer, the Mail rarely lets 'fact-checking' get in the way of a good story.

Snopes.com isn't always the authority.   Who is their watchdog?

They're the authority as far as I'm concerned and they don't have anything on Egypt's new necrophila law.

But New York Magazine says the law is "probably not real."

Actually, it sums up the "traditional" attitudes toward women perfectly. You know -- people who are "strong on family."

The Wisconsin recall is next Tuesday. They are voting for a new Governor, and I think up to 3 or 4 State Senators. Any Perdictions? Mine is he'll keep his job as well as most the Senators. Walker just announced today he made $13 Million in 3 months for his recall election. Most from out of state contributors. Feel sorry for the Wisconsinites, they are going to be hit with TV ads for the next week.

It's my understanding that next Tuesday is the primary and the election
itself is another month away on June 5.  Recall elections are very rare and
getting recalled is even rarer.  A report from Wisconsin on PBS' Newshour
last night indicates it could go either way at the moment.  Once a candidate
(Democrat) is selected next week then I'm sure that $13 million will come in
to play.

Thats right. My news in MLPS got the date wrong. WOW imagine that. This ABC station said the voting was next week and not the primary. This is what happens when you have real unbiased NEWS. The poles now indicate a Walker win by 2 to 4% points. Either way that $13 million will come in handy.
