Give me a fuckin break.   There are huge issues in this country that need to be addressed,
and gay marriage and bullying are not part of them!

I'd also like to add--if these issues are so unimportant, why did conservatives in six states spend
large amounts of time and money this year getting initiatives on the ballots in six states about
this issue, just to try and repudiate the very same ideas Obama has been courageous enough
to support?  Why have other conservative organizations donated so much time and money to
defeat gay marriage efforts in the courrts (Prop 8 in California) and in Congress (conservatives,
Boehner in particular, supporting and spending taxpayers money to keep DOMA in place)?

The importance of an issue varies from individual to individual no matter where it is being discussed.

When it comes to Obama, I doubt ANY body could change my vote. That is not always the case for me and as much as I think of myself as a "Kennedy Democrat," there have been a time or two when a Republican candidate got my vote. It is fair, in my mind, for someone to DISlike Obama as much as I like him.

-Why waste time & money on extradition proceedings when the Hit Man In Chief could simply declare her a "terrorist" and order her to be terminated..?

Yup.  I'm sure he could fly one of his Zionist button men into Switzerland without any trouble.   After all, he's already planted operatives on the planet Mars so how much trouble would a cross-planet assassination be?

Tony Perkins, head of the hate group Family Research Council, has appeared on CNN's "Starting Point" more than once, and has received complaints about her un-journalistic chumminess with him.  Last week she actually asked him some pointed questions, although falling back on the handy "agree to disagree" emergency exit at the end.

video here:  http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com/tony-perkins-horrible-no-good-very-bad-day/politics/2012/05/11/39371

O'Brien previously had a cordial online relationship with Perkins, including but not limited to joking Twitter exchanges about polka music.  In March, Matt Algren took her to task for not asking Perkins about his Ku Klux Klan connections.  Her response: "well, we'll have to disagree on that."

Screen shots of the Twitter exchanges at http://blog.mattalgren.com/2012/03/cnns-soledad-obrien-proves-the-need-for-glaads-new-commentator-accountability-project/#.T66nMlJU2Sp

Of course, this will all be quickly forgotten.  As we all know, no White House occupant in US history has ever been able to deal with more than one issue per week and GOP candidates have magically poor memories.

I don't know why you are so dismissive of GLBT issues, expecially on a forum dedicated to
a gay themed film.  I would think this forum is at least one place where those issues
could be discussed.  And to be honest, I don't think you'd vote for Obama no matter what
issue is being discussed because you won't even give him an iota of credit for standing up for
your own rights and interests as a GAY person.

Gay people and women, black people, and the disabled etc etc need the support of everyone who has ever felt the lash of dislike, ridicule, bullying and stereotyping. Liberalism can't just be one way.

-Okay, I like him in some respects, but at the same time I very much dislike him, too, and I have valid reasons, thousands of them, specifically victims maimed by his drone attack in Pakistan, including 160 babies. And allegedly Osama bin Laden. You know there is a moral issue, here, too: a 'Christian' man willing to openly revel in the killing of another human being.

+And -- for the benefit of the pms crowd -- no, I'm not a Romney supporter.

Since I'm not gay, black or disabled I am speaking as a woman period. And I'm tired of all the crying about the mean, disrespectful and oppressive treatment women receive. Especially in modern society. EVERYONE gets bullied at some time. NO ONE gets through life unscathed. I've gone where I wanted and done what I wanted all my life. So what if some guy said something derogatory or made more money for doing the same job? Big deal. My first husband had abusive tendencies. He hit me. Once. I was pregnant with our second child and I hit him back. He moved home to mommy the next day. I went to college on a full scholarship and didn't have to play basketball. I was in the Army during Vietnam and made rank extremely fast, faster than a lot of guys. I've done physical labor, worked in a couple factories as well as a bank and for a life insurance company, ran two companies in Oregon. After I split from my second hubby, I raised my kids alone and as LUCK would have it, they all survived and are living productive lives. Whining about how poorly you are treated doesn't change anything. Life is what YOU make of it.

That's a common rationalization, for both the reality of the experience and for failures of empathy.  And it's not limited to women.  Some of the most virulent critics of omega-type groups are people who are members of those groups.

They were not whiners. They were DOERS. If they hadn't been, nobody would have any idea who they were.

I highly recommend watching the PBS Frontline Documentaries on this issue.  There are four.  It will take the investment of some time and attention but it is worth it.  The fourth episode just aired and it is centered on Wall Street's involvement with the current European debt crisis.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/money-power-wall-street/

Watched the first segment of this last night, and the other three today.   An excellent analysis, of the economic crisis, but sadly, they (and I) conclude this mess is far from being resolved.   I really have to speculate at this time if the $2B loss Chase reported just might be the fuse that unravels the whole ugly truth about the derivatives markets and how they have been used for years now to essentially just shuffle the debt around rather than actually do something about it.

There are some very interesting parallels happening with the banking economy which indicate we could be looking at the fall of 2008 all over again as we approach the upcoming election.
