Hey, maybe that's something we can do in this thread.

list songs and covers we know, and which we like better.

excellent idea!

I'm game

Here's a very special (to me!) version in German of Nights In White Satin.

Juliane Werding

Wildes Wasser

Early seventies. God did I love that song!!

(forget the video - just listen to music & voice!)

Good pick Donna!  I've always liked both versions of this song.

Another favorite of mine. Thanks for reminding me, Suely!

The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald

http://youtu.be/hgI8bta-7aw

My late mother loved Gordon Lightfoot, as do I. I can't help but think of her whenever I hear The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. I still have all of her LP's upstairs in a cupboard. She has been dead now for over twenty years. She was the same age I am now when she died, of an incredibly rare form of leukaemia.
Gordon Lightfoot is an elderly man now, but most of his stuff sounds as fresh, and as impressive now, as it did when my mother was listening to it.

Oh I don't have to, I have most of the tracks downloaded onto CD and iPod. I play them all the time.

Sorry to hear that leukaemia got your Mum too.

The form my mother had was so rare that she was only the fifth person in the UK to die of it, according to the registrar of births, marriages and deaths.
What rotten luck.
