It was at this point (1984) that an article appeared that claimed Donna Summer (then recently "born again") made the statement that AIDS was God's punishment for gay people.  Donna denied this for years, but she was boycotted by radio and clubs/DJs and she hit a slump.  She later sued to clear her name, and won, as the person making the claim could provide no proof that the statement was ever made.

Suely, I think it was determined that she never said those things that were attributed to her.

I never heard any of that . So perhaps I am wrong with my info. Of all the things they say she has said in conversations .....why would anyone say she said that ?  Undecided  Oh well . It only shows ...not to believe what you read in the newspapers . Silly me  Sad

Hiya Suely and Donna.  Grin

It was determined that Donna never made those statements.  She took New York magazine to court in a lawsuit, and the magazine settled out of court with Donna Summer, they were unable to prove that she ever said that.   Donna did take a hit to her career for this publicity that followed, but later here career rebounded and she had a number of big club smashes, and always performed to huge crowds.

Currently in my CD player, letting me re-visit great music!  Thanks again Donna!  You'll be missed!

Track Listing:

Disc 1:  Love to Love You Baby - Could It Be Magic - I Feel Love - I Love You - Last Dance - Macarthur Park - Heaven Knows - Hot Stuff - Bad Girls - Dim All The Lights - No More Tears - On The Radio - The Wanderer - Love Is In Control - State of Independence - She Works Hard For The Money - This Time I Know It's For Real - I Will Go With You - That's The Way - I Will Live For Love

Disc 2:  I Feel Love (extended mix) - Hot Stuff (Extended Mix) - This Time I Know It's For Real (Extended Mix) - I Will Live For Love (Extended Mix) - You're So Beautiful (Club Mix)

My favorite track from above is "I Will Go With You".....it was released in 1999, and if I remember correctly, went to #1 on the Club Play chart and Dance Single chart, and Donna won a grammy for it as Best Dance Recording.

I like both versions, Andy. Thanks for posting them. I really like John's version better as I just like his voice better. it just appeals to me more.  He is so talented in so many things, acting and singing and so easy on the eyes.
