He lived for many years, Sparky Stars. Very Sparky, And very Starry, too.

I guess you didn't mean mine...even though it was my cat.

sniff...

Just saw this.  I liked your Jenny/Bill/Sparky Stars poem, too, and the whole story behind that cat of yours.   Wink

It's a pity you never found the original owner, to tell him that Sparky Stars was still Sparky Stars.

A story: "My Working Day," (between 1969-2009), parts 1 and 2.

Y'know..none of us would be writing--well, I wouldn't!--if I hadn't seen Brokeback Mountain. I work hard at my writing, and I feel sorta squashed by having to post it on a thread that's half way down a list of "Leisure" activities, just because I don't write stuff DIRECTLY connected to BB anymore!

At least on Bettermost, there's a "Creative Writing" section!

And I can post my URL on amazon.com, under my real name.

And on Google.

vent, vent!

What's "twiitter"?(God am I dumb).

Actually, I watched an old movie called "The Cruciible"  Monday night, and it gave me such a case of fantoad guilt, I friendslocked  my--fairly long--story...which means there are about 15 people in the whole world that can read it. meanwhile, two people from different parts of England, and one from the "Federation of Russian States"  (IS there such a thing?) and one from Concord, CA had visited my URL.

See, even though I set the story on Mars, and everyone speaks Martian, and discusses Martian things--the friggen story is still true, and the subjects...probably wouldn't like it.

I did build my loves a tower
by a cool crystal fountain
and on it I placed
all the flowers of Brokeback Mountain
with lots of talk, and love aplenty
but no slash--cause--there wasn't any.

This Mountain

----------------------------------------------

I feel as if I'm before a mountain
and it's my job to get to the top
which is so impossibly high above me

In reality, I'm in my home
faced with what seems to be
endless responsibilities

Indecison and anxiousness
make their way through my thoughts
inhibiting my progress

It's not supposed to be this way
damn it, I'm an adult
and should be better at this

Yet somehow I feel like I fail
stuck in a trap that I've created
with no one's hand to hold

This isn't what I wanted
I expected better for myself
yet somehow, it didn't happen

I can't go around this mess
as much as I would like to
so it's time to take action

So I make a silent prayer
and focus my attention
and take my first step

Things will get better
but before that can happen
I have to climb this mountain

climb that mountain, chuck, and don't ever look down!  Smiley  Kiss Kiss

i know i shouldn't do this, post a poem by another person, but i found this on twitter and loved it so. it's by CC... you know.

has your heart been penetrated?
that's when you'll really see..
that's where the seed is really planted..
that's all you'll ever need --
when your heart's cherry bleeds.
when you've given up being a whore
for something more..
that's when you're not a virgin anymore.

i thought that was sweet, coming from mr. "mind in the gutter."

No, I do NOT wish not to be notified about posts in this thread! All I want to do is delete the poem about 3 posts up. But it's against ruiles....nobody responded to it, it doesn't interrupt the continuity of the thread to take it out, but it's against RULES!~ AngryPULEESE!

By David Young (published in his latest book, Black Lab):

Sally and the Sun

Thus we understand the word "cut" in the following sentences "The barber cut my hair," "The tailor cut the cloth," and "The surgeon cut the skin" quite differently because we bring to bear on these sentences a large cultured background knowledge....but for the same reason we don't know how to interpret the sentences "Sally cut the sun" or "Bill cut the mountain."
    --John Searle

Sally cut the sun
Billy cut the mountain;
Andy had some fun
At the soda fountain.

Kathy caught the light--
No one told her not to;
Janice was a fright
After she'd been taught to.

Diamond cut the glasses,
Jesus cut the cheese;
Goat-boy cropped the grasses
Nodding in the breeze.

My Mountain...

I am about to lose the only job
I ever loved.
And, for other reasons,
the friends that go with it
(whom I also love)
In a couple months,
I will have $766 a month
to live on (and each month, a $412
insurance bill).
My home, gradually,
and my body, suddenly
are going to ruin.

There are things I could do
about some of this (not all).
Each night, i say: Tomorrow
I will start,
but the days go by,
and I don't.

Thank you for all your good wishes. UN-fortunately, I didn't write the "cut" poem; it's by a friend of mine (recently re-acquired after 50 years, since college!) who's a professional poet, and was the poetry chair at Oberlin for many years. (He's a year younger than I am). David Young (put name of book on the poem post).
