Monroe: Well, I believe in the soul, the c**k, the pu$$y, the small of a woman's back, the hanging curve ball, high fiber, good scotch, that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent, overrated crap. I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft-core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days
Alma: (off camera) You are scaring me Monroe.

omg, Lola... did you write that? That is flipping HILARIOUS!  That sounds like a quote from a Joseph Heller book... wow, I think I am going to try and say that and pass it off as original!

"Shit Ennis, how'm I supposed ta operate a can opener with you gettin naked over there, huh?"

That's why he couldn't open the beans! Cheesy

I'm so glad someone else has just had their eyes opened about this scene too!  All makes perfect sense now....just thought it was a joke after Jack's comment about "I'm pretty good with a can opener"...but of course, seeing Ennis all neked would just make you all fingers and thumbs....so to speak.

Oh my goodness, no I didn't write it, I am not so clever.  That was said by Kevin Costner (Crash Davis) in Bull Durham.  Wink

My fan base may be small in here   Tongue   but I just want to say thanks.   This is a great thread, there are some very, very funny people in here.  I just wish more would jump in.  It is easy, the water is warm, so dive right in.  Don't worry about if they are funny or not!

This screencap is the saddest pic of the whole movie I've seen so far...!
This incredible joy in Jack's eyes, the anticipation, the love, the fondness of his expression
miles and miles of looking forward behind him
and still he doesn't know what a huge terrible deception lies just seconds away for him!

I know this was meant to be funny, but I had to sob for five minutes, couldn't get that image out of my head!

That was the scene that really got to me in the theatre.  He was so happy and then a few minutes later he just drove off with his little heart broke.  Cry

Thanks for all of the great photo caps - Louisev, I especially love when you do a series (first the short eared sheep, now the gaydar)! Grin
