Picnic at Hanging Rock

One of my all-time favorite movies.
Beautiful, mysterious, intense, enigmatic.

How could you know? How could you guess?

Because it was one of my all-time favourties too. The music captivated and haunted me in a similar way to the music of Brokeback. It is interesting that Picnic at Hanging rock explores similar themes to BBM and in a similar setting -  repressed sexuality, a suggestion of same-sex attraction, and the contrast between the strict regimentation of a Victorian boarding school and the wild environment the girls get lost in. In writing BBM Annie Proulx mentioned the concept of a wormhole which people enter and return from changed. Of the girls who disappear one returns but cannot talk about what happened.

Yeah - the unspeakable truth - like the two children remaining at the end of the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin who weren't capable of telling anything either...!

Picinic at HR was one of the first movies that set me over the edge - for years. I was twelve when I saw it for the first time, and still now am impressed by it...

(Another movie in almost the same esthetic style would be Atom Egoyan's wonderfully enigmatic
THE SWEET HEREAFTER...)

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

Decent length, good heft, feels right. . .wonder if the next yoga position will limber me up enough to satisfy myself on those cold prairie nights in this here trailer. . .

Now is perhaps a good time for my favorite pic of St. Jack of Brokeback  Cheesy

Kind of reminds me of depictions of St Sebastain like this one.

^^^Oh, the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. . .Speaking of outrageous fortune, that loincloth looks pretty filled out. . .

MOVE OVER SEBASTIAN, NOW THERE'S "JUST JACK. . ."
The following is from Wikipedia:

"The earliest gay icon was St. Sebastian. The combination of his strong, shirtless physique, the symbolism of the arrows penetrating his body, and the look on his face of rapturous pain have intrigued artists both gay and straight for centuries; and began the first explicitly gay cult in the 19th century. Richard A. Kaye wrote, "contemporary gay men have seen in Sebastian at once a stunning advertisement for homosexual desire (indeed, a homoerotic ideal), and a prototypical portrait of tortured closet case". Due to St. Sebastian's status as gay icon, Tennessee Williams chose to use that name for the martyred character Sebastian in his play, Suddenly, Last Summer.

Jack: Well, Ennis looks like we’re gonna get cast out of Eden. That’s what happens when ya eat forbidden fruit.

Ennis: Waddya mean?

Jack: Well that coyote ain’t the only one with balls like apples Ennis.

So Doc Adrian goes like this under my family jewels, then he says turn your head and cough,
so I did ... then he had the nerve to ask me for an autograph!

...so I gave him the autograph, and that's when he tells me he's actually a veterinarian!

An Avian Veterinarian!  No wonder he was asking me about my cock!
