Dave will tell the story behind the book--his journey from a graduate writing program to the Edgar award and the bestseller list. It's a fascinating, informative and inspiring tale.

With Professor Miles Harvey. A Q&A and book signing will follow.

Dave will also appear on NPR station WBEZ's morning show Eight Forty-Eight, around 9 a.m., probably Friday.

That would make sense, wouldn't it, Fritz? I don't know for sure, but if I get more details, I'll post them here!

I know that our local NPR station (WAMU) interrupts one of their three transmissions of Morning Edition around that time for local programming, to the top of the hour.

Actually 2 1/2 repetitions of the two hour program, broadcasting it from 5 to 10 am.

Fritz, you piqued my curiosity so I did a little research. This is what I've found out.

Eight Forty-Eight is the street address of Chicago Public Radio's studios on Navy Pier.
The program is broadcast at 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. the same day.
There will be a podcast on-line if we miss the broadcast.

What would we do without our NPR stations? I love mine.

Ah, that makes sense. I have our NPR station on at work all day, as well as in the car. Wouldn't be without it!

In fact, Sunday evenings in the Diner, some people listen along with me to the Big Broadcast from WAMU at 7 Eastern, rebroadcasts of old time radio.

FYI, my piece on Monday's high school standoff is here--and why it was significant that it was not a 'hostage' situation. I interviewed the man who founded the FBI's hostage negotiation unit:

Understanding Sam Hengel, the Gunman at Marinette High School

now back to military gays. SO busy.
