Things got hot all of a sudden with the release of Sue Klebold's essay in O Mag this week.

I wrote a serious response to it here:
http://www.davecullenblog.com/2009/10/sue-klebold-wrote-remarkable-essay-for.html

and a lighter one here:

The Today Show and ABC World News with Charles Gibson both had me on Monday, but just briefly. You can watch the segments from here:

It's been crazy. Lots of radio, but I'm done for the night, watching Survivor. I have to get up for one at 8 a.m., which is early for me. Then I pack and fly to Grand Rapids for a book fest.

If you've missed Dave's appearances there are a couple of places you can hear podcasts from a couple of them.

His recent talk at the Grand Rapids Public Library is available at http://www.grpl.org/blog/?p=3589. It lasts an hour and 12 minutes. The audio quality is understandable but not great.

David Ulin of the LA times interviewed Dave at the LA Book Festival and that's available at Audible.com. It costs about $3 but the audio quality is excellent. It's about an hour. http://tinyurl.com/yffydl2

Next on his travels are the Texas Book Fair in Austin this weekend and Helsinki the following weekend.

Dave is looking for a graphic artist or someone talented in making architectural drawings to make 2 or 3 sketches of the layout of Columbine High School. The final sketches will appear in the paperback version of Columbine and the artist will be given credit in the book.

If you'd like to see the type of layouts that may be required, see these examples: the cafeteria and parking lot, the library and west entrance, and  the entire upper level of the school.

Please note that this is a volunteer job. If you're interested, please email Dave ASAP at cullendave at gmail dot com.

Hey, thanks for all the encouragement from you all about making several Best of 2009 lists.

COLUMBINE hit the Entertainment Weekly (#4) and Miami Herald lists this weekend, which brings the total number of lists to fifteen.

It's been fun.

Full list here:

Hi. FYI, the book has been nominated for an Edgar Award, and as of yesterday, B&N's Discover Award.

The winners will be announced at awards ceremonies in NYC: March 3 for the Discover Award, April 29 for the Edgar.
