And then I saw this good review from north of the border - The Toronto Star. The discussion in the comments is kind of interesting, too.

I was listening to NPR on Friday and caught the tail end of the review on the evening news. Was so happy to hear the world sit up and take notice.

Congrats on the success of the book, Dave! Will you be appearing on any of the Sunday morning public affairs shows?

The New York Times finally got it right.
Excellent review by guest editor , Jennifer Senior, in today's BooK Review section.
Well deserved.
Congrats.

I think Dave posted the link earlier with a group of others but here it is again.

Dave was on our local NPR interview program, Radio Times, this morning, and will be on Face The Nation, which is live at 2pm EDT on Monday. It's a call-in show. So have a question ready. Smiley

Oh, I'm glad you heard that? How was I?

I was SO tired yesterday. I got only four hours sleep--on the heals of endless short nights--and had to wake at 7 for an ABC radio satellite tour. I was barely conscious when Radio Times started, which is sad, because that's a great show, and I wanted to do well. Hopefully I was still OK, though not my best work. Sorry.

I need a rest. I get much of the weekend off, sort of. I have to write that piece for Times of London.

I thought you were pretty good. Marty took you through the book pretty thoroughly. I liked her mentioning that Hugh Grant wasn't a psychopath (frightening that some of her listeners might need that clarified.) She did have to interrupt you some later in the interview, and your concentration might have been off in discussing Dylan and Eric after her first break. Had a little more trouble. And if someone knew how you usually sounded, you sounded tired. But still fascinating to me. Smiley

The Harpo producers asked me to share this statement:

Due to a production decision, the Columbine episode will not air Monday.

---

The info posted yesterday was correct at the time, but a new decision was made. I hope to have more information early in the week, and will share it as quickly as possible.

Thanks to everyone for your support. The book is still doing great. Whether or not the show airs at a later date, it was a wonderful experience and I think the world of Oprah and the Harpo team.

Oprah personally was gracious with my family, a kindness I will never forget.

Was that on All Things Considered?

They were planning to air it Monday, but maybe moved it up.

(Or maybe it was the local station running a review?) Any info you/anyone have on that would be appreciated. Thanks.

There will be much radio and now maybe TV tomorrow.

Hey Dave,

Finished the book last night, and was pleased to read the NY Times Sunday book review this morning. Hopefully. that will counterbalance Maslin's weird non-review review.

I understand your presentation of the story in the third person, but I, for one, would like to have seen and heard your own voice more directly in the text. You were there, after all.

Best wishes on the continuing tour,

Sandy

Hi Dave, I'm reading your book now.  It's very good.

Did you see that there was an article about it on HuffPost?

From the AP:

Winfrey cancels program on Columbine anniversary

CHICAGO – Oprah Winfrey has canceled an episode of her talk show that was to mark the 10th anniversary of the Columbine High School massacre, saying it focused too much on the killers.

The episode, "10 Years Later: The Truth About Columbine," was to air Monday, the anniversary of the massacre in Littleton, Colo., that killed 12 students and a teacher.

Winfrey posted a message Monday morning on her Facebook page, saying that after she reviewed the taped show she decided to pull it because of its focus on the two gunmen.

She urged viewers to keep the Columbine community in their thoughts.

Winfrey said she would air a program about a mother released from prison in place of the Columbine piece. Her company, Harpo Productions, confirmed the announcement.
