Oh, and one more thing Lydia, since you were asking for proofreading notes.  I'm sorry I couldn't scan and locate the section, but there is a case early in the book where the word "might" is used instead of  "night".

I know!!! I hate that. I caught that one and dejavu caught 3 more and I've found a few more. They've already started additional printings so I'm not sure when we can make the changes, but I am compiling a list

I got my copy of Columbine today, lay down on the sofa to thumb through it, and immediately read 50 pages. It's really good. I was always going to buy and read it, of course, but I thought the reading might be a bit of an effort because I couldn't be less interested in the subject. But the writing is so good I was instantly hooked, to my surprise. I expect to have it finished long before Dave's signing here at the end of the month.

I can't quit watching it climb up the charts!
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #20 in Books and #5 in nonfiction.
This is so great!

(This is out of about 6 million books that Amazon lists! 20th out of 6 million. Not too shabby!)

Not shabby at all!

If you have any contact with Dave, could you ask him if there will be any foreseeable venue at all in the DC area?

Fritz, I know he's booked solid throughout April and part of May will probably be a book tour in the UK.  So if he makes an appearance at Politics and Prose it will likely be after that. I was disappointed too, because C-SPAN/Book TV often tapes appearances in P&P. I was hoping to see his talk that way. If I hear otherwise, I'll let you know for sure.

Jeff Baker in today's Oregonian (4/12/09)  calls Dave's book "riveting".  An hour ago, picked up a copy at Barnes and Noble.  Gonna head on up to Seattle to get it signed on the 27th.

Just last week, four kids here in Oregon were thwarted in their plans to shoot up their school.   Usual shock and finger pointing.  It was noted that they knew about Columbine.

I did a search for our book "Beyond Brokeback" on Amazon tonight but couldn't find it, except for a listing of our hard cover edition which is unavailable. Obviously our book is too risque to be seen.

But it did show "Columbine" in the #1 spot for that search.

here's the latest ranking for Columbine on Amazon:

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #17 in Books

Just a quick note to say that Jenny, Desperadum and I attended Dave's book signing in NYC last night.  Dave gave a very interesting talk about the book, the killers, his approach to writing the book, and how he focused on telling the stories of several representatve people.  Then he took questions from the audience until the person in charge indicated that time was up, and he was very pleasant with everybody who went up to have their book signed.

If you've already bought a book, he will sign it, otherwise the bookstore has a big stack available to buy.  I brought my own book and bought an extra copy for someone else.  So there's no need to wait for the signing to buy your book.  We thought it would help to bring our receipts for books purchased elsewhere, in case anyone asked as we were leaving the store, but no one did.
